I think you are worrying unnecessarily as there is nothing wrong with the "community" spirit in my eyes.
This place would be very boring if it weren't for the occasional Diesel v WRX thread etc and personally I like participating in a bit of friendly banter to wind you lot up.
Some of you are so blinkered by the Impreza reputation that it once had that you cannot comprehend that a Golf Diesel could ever keep up with a AWD Turbo powered rally icon.

Well guess what?
It can...

Very little of the above has anything to do with my original post - those are your issues - never did I mention the Impreza reputation etc. And it's not the occasional thread I raise the issue with - its the posting of the same old rubbish time and again, and the same old questions being asked when people could search.

And yes flatty_scooby - this is turning into yet another pointless thread.

Some people have contributed to the discussion, instead of raising their own issues or slagging me off. The thread was not about me - it was a series of "observations" which I still don't think are necessarily wrong and I am surprised more people do not have a reasoned opinion on it - some of you are extremely good at voicing your opinions at other times, even if they are of the pslewis variety.

Default Thats what the other forums are for

I think that somebody else made the point that there are other forums for more serious discussions and the Muppets one for less serious discussions, this is a general forum for general discussion loosely related to Subarus or other things that might be of interest.

That was a question - how does that, or your, comment relate to my original post?

People jump in and post for the sake of posting - contribute something to the discussion - this thread does nothing for a forum (of discussion).

We all have a choice .... don't we ?...to read it or not...providing within snet rules post what u want.
What your proposing is communist "u can only post what i say u can" or " I want it MY way" (toys out of pram)
I dont like some types of post, but so what its only MY point of view.
And as is often said EACH TO THEIR OWN.
I do however think its this type of diversity that makes snet as successful as it is.
IMHO only of course

I relates to the original post by - in the other forums like 'serious projects' you don't get the 'my toy is bigger than your toy' type posts, in the general forum its about entertainment and people joing in. Although I do agree that out and out pi$$taking etc serves no purpose, and people should be allowed an opinion without being shot down.

When the original SN forum was setup there was very little if any crap/pointless/ winding up posts, but you’re always eventually going to get people waffling crap.
However if you have forums like "fight club" and "muppets" what do you expect, this is bound to spill onto other subject forums.

People on here shouldn't be subjected to other users winding them up or with pathetic replies when the question or query is serious, that's what the muppet forum was setup for, but if the're asking for it then it should start in muppets!
I don't like being wound up myself if I'm not asking for it, if it happened to me in person I can assure you the other person aint gonna like my reply!

There are other forums that I use that have none of the crap we have on here because they are strictly moderated, this doesn't make them any less interesting so it can work.

Thanks Rob - a reply which is actually taking my point as I meant it.

Foot tapper - I make no proposals - and it is certainly not communist - it was a series of observations. Nowhere did I state

"What your proposing is communist "u can only post what i say u can" or " I want it MY way" (toys out of pram)"

or anything similar.

In this thread many people raise their own issues, not the ones I have listed which is fine but WHY then use them as a personal snipe at me?

Pathetic.

Yea but I can get at least 25mpg out of my Sti - you just need to learn how to avoid the turbo kicking in.

I'm with AlanPPP. I have no problem with muppet posts. I love my Scooby but I am not blessed with technical knowledge and frequently ask what may be considered stupid questions. HOWEVER, on the whole, most of the replies are useful and informative which is why I like the place so much.

One thing that really saddens me is the terrible state of the English language too often seen on here. You're not using the text on the mobile so why not try and speak English? I don't think it's just a case of poor education (although in some cases this is all to evident) I think some people consider it cool to talk in text style drivel. I've got news for you - it takes at the most, a few extra seconds to write the actual word, and in doing so you may just be taken a bit more seriously!
My grammer may not be the best on here, but I do try!
Bring back the English language!!

Hmm.... a self-fulfilling prophecy about threads going to rats!!!

There was a very extensive debate when Scoobynet was revamped..... perhaps someone might like to post the thread number?? I could use the 'search' function, but I'm too lazy.... there's an answer to one of the original questions.

I do (continue) to think that a forum with locked "Golden answer" theads would be useful, from "how to post smilies" through to "what can I do about clutch judder on my 'classic'?"

The thread that looked for golden Muppet threads was, itself a classic.

If the Board didn't reflect the variety of people on it it would indeed be boring and, as has been remarked in a recent thread, the people who post now are not the same as those who used to post - say - three years ago. So there's a substantial turnover of active members.

So, I'm not too worried. If the thread title is "Scooby vs EVO" I exercise my right not to click.....

Cheers

Phil
