The OE front wings are very light as std, as is the alloy bonnet.
David
Proper pre preg carbon or FG ? I'd be interested in a price for doors and bootlid.

By all means to get the times, and if possible a sub 10sec run, strip it. It would be amazing to see it happen.
But for any event such as TOTB where cars are supposed to be road cars, they should ALL carry full road trim, use pump fuel and be driven to and from the event etc etc etc. As road cars do.

PMSL!!!!!
You getting worried now Andy?
Ra may have thinner glass and no electrics, but it does have four doors
Seriously though, if you can get that car in the 9's then you gotta do whatever it takes... Even if it is letting pauls tyre's down

Possibly not applicable, but if you have plastic doors then you MUST have door bars to fit the roll cage in MSA rules. The door bars are 1.5 KG each.
I do like the idea of plastic doors, but bracing the glass being frameless is hard.
totally agree that the rule should be Road Car, trimmed and MoT'd etc and driven there.
That would leave the Scooby boys Zero Competition then?
Graham.

andyf... depends on what ur priorities are in my eyes... if ur main concern is to get the quickest possible time and whop some **** then strip it... however cars that are rapid get even more respect from me.....
i personally say strip it as i really want to see a 9sec uk scooby... do u think u gonna be able to get near that???? what did ya run last year?

I say strip it, but if you are goning to strip then go the whole hog, once you have started then you need to do the lot, biggest weight in most modern cars is in the wiring loom and other associated electrics. I am currently in the process of stripping down a old loom just leaving the bare essentials..also ditching ABS and airbags.
While this may seem completely mad it is the last measure before getting CF or FG panels made..
The seats and sound deadening do not weigh a tremendous amount but all added up it equates to a reasonable loss in weight..

Not sure what it's capable of ? Last year it ran 10.7 at Elvington with approx 500bhp (proven 460..lol ) then ran 10.5 with a 50 shot of N2O at Crail but the starts were shocking due to the slippy/bumpy surface. At both these events the car was fully trimmed, all seats, carpets, radio, speakers etc and driven to/from the event. It was set up as an 'all rounder' with decent brakes and coilovers etc.
I fully believe in these events being for road cars and should involve driving to/from.
Some of the EVO's and Skylines at TOTB were in no way 'daily drivers' with their FG doors, perspex windows and empty interiors.
I don't really want to go down that route as i would like to be able to drive the car a decent distance in relative comfort.
I think a half way strip out may be the plan, much like my last RA that Pavlo has now, retaining the door trims, seats, dash, heater and all steel panels so at least it looks fairly standard and complete.

Drill holes whats that???? Me and 2 friends cut the inner doors had to glue the windows shut we just have a bit of wire to open the door with. Innner boot all gone no dash board just speedo dials even bits of the roof and we have one seat thats about it.
The only thing left to take out is the heater matrix and the washer bottles.
Its not an impreza but a lancia delta turbo it is probably the most cowboy way off striiping a car using a prybar a big hammer and a grinder .
Its good fun to drive though.

Think a little hand heater or a cloth will have to do the job as we have no heater controls or nothing there all smashed up .
On a serious note though keep the road trim and still show them skylines how its done. Do you think 9's could be on the cards????? It would be great to see.

there must be far lighter front seats than the standards(if thats what u still have), but not so sure the weightsaving would be of much consequence tho'. theres also carbon fibre shafts?! and thats probly the budget gone!

have you thought about what the impact of lightening will have on the balance of the car?
if you're really after a really good time then you have to do everything possible to achieve it, just bin the seats, spare wheel, jack and stereo for SSO and see how it goes

Andy,
fwiw, I realy respect the decision to retain some interior and comfort. I am a little surprised and thought you were all about the numbers, looks like I was wrong.
In your position I would strip it as much as you can for the event and put it back together afterwards.
There is no problem fitting carbon panels, they are perfectly passable, but I think you really do need to drop to the level of the competition.
You and pavlo have a serious chance of beating the other teams. and surely especially with weight loss you should be taking it to the skylines and evos on the handling track.
I say go for it, but nothing irreversible.
Cope with the discomfort for the events then refit afterwards.
Either way, WIN!

Should have read 'do anything to win' even letting his tyres down
Your suttle digs crack me up dont pretend you dont know what i am talking about
All **** sturring aside, do you reckon you could get your car in the 9's Andy? If one of the scoob guys could do it, it would really put subaru's back on the map.. even after such a good show at last years event everyone still talked about the skylines.... shame really as the results from the scoob guys was unbelievable really and not far off what are classed as the big guns..
Oh and as for this full interior crap!!!! all of your seats probably way less than a single std impreza front seat... I like your style though!
Oh and whilst i am at it (spoon in hand) all this crail **** n all!!!! Downhill drag strip PMSL!!!!!!!
Rob

Drop to the level of competition Adam? You do what is within the rules if you want to win, to do otherwise is pointless if winning is what you want to achieve. If winning isnt that important to you, but to show the cars properties in a stock trim spec is, then stick with that, but to have an opinion that other competitors are lowering themselves because they use the rules to the full is a bit of a strange opinion.
What do you want Andy? Win the event or just look good for a stock trimmed car? You know what you have to do based on your answer. Hopefully i'll be able to give you a run for your money this year, at least on the handling section.
