Get a job in a zoo.
You dont get as much back chat and grief, but basically its the same principle.

I was there with the stress related sickness as well mate - and I sympathise entirely with what you are going through.
I was off for 3 months (could've been longer but I need to be mentally stimulated and home was getting boring!) after having a breakdown in the office (quite spectacular from what I was told)
I went back to work and found another job after 6 months (same field but away from the appalling management at a midlands based british airline....). I told my new employers about the stress leave and they had no problem with it, so I wouldn't worry.
Look, good luck with whatever you endeavour to do - right now you will feel very lonely, very exposed and very nervous... It sounds like you are making the right decision for the right reasons and things rarely go wrong under those circumstances.

Got a letter this morning asking me to go to an assessment centre for a job i applied for a few weeks ago. It's on the 6th April. Looks a little daunting but needless to say i'm well pleased.
Things are looking up!
