Because if he had hit my wife's car with my 2 children in it and put them in hospital/killed them , i don't think i would've thought he was a laugh!
In 18 years in one of the Rescue Services,i have cut my fair share of McRae wannabes out of cars, dead and alive, seen a 3 year old child thrown through the front windscreen of her parents car, still strapped in her child seat, which was securely fastened in,only to be ****ed up due to the impact of the other car!And it wasn't their fault!
If he was legit, why run ?

Seriously get a grip 'captain sympathy' - I would never complain about being pulled up by the police for a spot check in my high powered mobeeel! Glad the police are ensuring its a legit driver... You should be honoured they think your car is worthy of a decent stop check...
At the end of the day - to die at great speed would insinuate the driver was speeding - and attempting to get away from the law so as long as only he and no-one else died / was injured then fork him...
As for his family - if they have lost a loved one - my smypathy - it will happen to us all - but would they issue me with sympathy when a loved one of mine dies through non criminal activity? naaaaa thought as much...

i do not belive for one minute that you lot have never abused the power of your subaru in a 30mph zone.
so what gives you the rite to judge and ridicule his death.

Racing up to 7 other cars on a motorway, then gunning up the hard shoulder to beat everyone? I'm sorry, but antics like that and the virtually unreadable replies by *mates* makes me think the bloke was a total *** jockey and it's lucky he didn't take anybody else to the grave with him.
There's nothing wrong that I can see with the highlighted post by Abdabz. Maybe most of us with Subarus have been a bit ambitious with the fast pedal, but I think I'm not alone in saying that bombing down the fast lane is not a normal occurance nor trying to escape police at speed, and at the end of the day he crashed "at great speed".
In my book if the *facts* stated above turn out to be true, the bloke was an absolute moron. And the less said about the unreadable cut and pastes the better. Suffice to say, it probably wouldn't be a great loss to society if some of them were in the car with him.

Sympathies to his family, but if whats said above in the cut and pastes is true, then it was always coming. People who drive like that are a risk to themselves and others.

I still can't see how anyone can justify him taking off from the police at speed just because he had been pulled previously. There has to be something else that hasn't come to light here.

Agree with most people on here - anyone losing their life is a shocking and tragic thing and it is not for us to judge the error of their ways at this time. BUT, when you start hearing stored about racing up the hard shoulder and trying to out-run the police, unfortunately sympathies will diminish as it starts to go away from one person taking their own life in their hands to all of a sudden taking outher people's and that is scary.
Yes, we have probably all been a bit irrational in a 30 mph limit at times, but doing 50mph in a 30mph on a dark dry night (while perhaps silly) it very different to outrunning the police and indeed racing down the hard shoulder. Funny at the time and funny now - unless he'd have a hit an innocent family who's car began overhating and they pulled off on to the safety of the hard shoulder. I suspect none of us would be laughing then.
It is a tradegy this happened, but we should leave it there, otherwise people will start to criticise and justifably so when someone tries to out-run the police - that's why we have laws in this country.

LOL
He sounds like a complete ****
And a selfish one at that. By driving like a ****, he's left his friends and family having to deal with the loss of a, presumably, loved one.
That's unfortunate, but the good news is that he's now not going to kill someone else who just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. And leave that trail of devastation too.
And before you get on your high horse rizzy, I used to, on occasion, drive like a complete ****. The difference is, I got away without killing anyone, or seriously injuring myself. That makes me quailified to comment here.
I can now appreciate just how lucky I was.
This guy took the risk, and paid the price. Such is life.
Get over it.

Complete and utter ****!!!!!!!!
If the guy was legal, why run?? Was he trying to be clever? It's this sort of driving and person that gets all Subaru drivers a bad name, god forbid if he had taken out another car with some young kiddies in it, I'm not saying I don't drive fast BUT their is a time and a place, sorry guys he got what he deserved!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wouldn't say it is fair to say he got what he deserved, but I would say that he certainly got what was coming to him!
Overtaking in hard shoulder is a HUUUGE risk (of yours and others lives), as is racing on a public road.
Can't see why you would race away from the police if you had nothing to hide! I used to get pulled over nearly every week by the old bill (young driver, "chav'd" up subaru) I just put up with it - I would never have contemplated racing away from the police.
TBH, it sounds like this tragic accident could have been a blessing for other people, as the roads are certainly safer without maniacs like this about!
Did he also think he would be able to get away from the police? They have traffic cops that are trained how to drive "properly", so did he think he was that good a driver to escape from them/the helicopters, and any stinger traps laid in the road - he made a foolish mistake and paid the ultimate price - it was lucky that no innocent people had their lives turned upside down (apart from his family - who my condolences rest with)!

This seems a bit over the top.
Somebody has died, your not commenting on a film.
We don't know the circumstances, so far all I have seen is projected theories and a quote of "great speed" could mean anything, could be 80 in a 60, who hasn't done that? Maybe the unmarked car was trying to overtake and he thought like a lot of you lot will all the time "I'll give him a quick blast just to show him not to overtake in his vectra or whatever". Or maybe he really was driving like a lunatic, who knows.

If you drive normally its quite hard to kill yourself (proved by all the normal drivers still alive and well)......while possible i think its a safe bet he wasnt driving "normally"

As for abusing the power of my car in a 30 - I have exceeded it from time to time yes by a few mph - but if the police asked me to stop I would and as I posted before I'd be pleased that the police were checking my car.
As for what gives me the right, well the fact that someone has posted this thread means they wanted our comments - its a free country and I can type my opinions on here - and quite honestly not care one hoot if they upset the odd fruitloop or two...

It's certainly the case that the posts from this local site which seem pretty chav and silly, do not help people to form good opinions!

The guy spent all his time in BK (Burger King) car park, says it all really, all chavs drive like there is no tomorrow and there isn't for him.
I feel sorry for the family and his friends, but little sympathy for the driver, another bad driver off the road and not able to harm or potentially kill me or my family.
Does anyone have a "Chav speak" translator, I honestly can't read those text messages!

Local Paper and another one
A DRIVER was killed in a car crash while being pursued by police.
Police officers had stopped the driver at a garage in Harston but he took off with the officers in pursuit.
Moments later the police discovered his blue Subaru in a ditch by the A10 near Shepreth.
The car had rolled over several times and the body of the man had been catapulted nearly 100 yards into a field. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A police spokeswoman said: "The officers stopped the car at a garage. They went to get out of their car and as they were doing so the other car made off. They weren't in pursuit directly behind it, they followed some distance away and they then discovered the car in the ditch.
