These figures don't reflect global supply issues - they often reflect the fact that a single US rig in the Gulf of Mexico had a small production problem etc. Hardly a global issue.
Add in some analyst from Goldman Sachs speculating on prices of futures, and the markets react. Remember, the analyst (yes, this single person) hasn't changed the current levels of crude stockpiles, nor altered production from OPEC or anyone else.
It's the few hundred people sitting in that trading pit in New York that are living these hyped prices. Making money off it all....

I know its the traders, I used to do trader support and know what a bunch of to$$ers they are, problem is when they start doing this there isn't a lot anyone can do to stop them forcing the market up with speculation. Only way to combat it is to increase supply or shoot all the traders, I know what option i'd prefer

The fact is that a tiny percentage of the world's population using a disproportionately large amount of the world's resources is a problem of sorts , but when the rest of the world tries to play catch up in the consumption game, the sh*t starts to hit the fan.

But it is absolutely heaving with Chinese students and on the surface they are the most diligent and eager to learn. Over the Easter break the place was still filled with them while the locals were off p!ssing it up. They're polite and, occasional language difficulties aside, very easy to work with. They're the first here in the mornings and the last to leave at night so I say they deserve to be progressing as a nation. From the microcosmic view I get I'd say they're putting the effort in.

Filled up with ultimate diesel today - 95.9p/litre
Diesel and SUL will surely reach 100p/litre before too long. And then we have that 3p/litre TAX increase added in September thanks to Gordon Brown
