Oh, fat lad, you've only won the pie eating contest
The contest for the roads will be won by the voters who will laugh off any suggestion of the ridiculous idea as per the original post.

'The contest for the roads' will be won by the green nutters unless New Labour get voted out.
Ridiculous? The proposals certainly are.
The reality is not however, as time will tell.

Just like ISA will never happen eh fatherpierre? Cos the infrastructure would be too expensive and complicated. Shame that Norwich Union are already offering pay as you go insurance to 18-21 year olds. A fantastic scheme whereby a black box fitted to your car tracks your position by GPS and records all your movements. The blackbox then uploads your travelling information to NU using mobile phone networks. It even incorporates off peak travel discounts. Sounds like everything you need to know where someone's been and at what time they went there
Nevermind it'll never happen on a mass scale will it.
Get your head out of the sand man.

No sand in North London - just congested roads, used by voters who pay millions per year in tax and have the vote.

If you want to live in a country like that it's your choice. As for me, I'll be off after I've cashed in.
Enjoy.

See ya, then.
I look forward to you slagging off the government of <insert country here>, complaining about whatever party is in power but offering the same solution - get them out.
I'll miss you.......

You remind of my Grandad........
He moaned about anything and everything but had no answer/solution to what he was moaning about.
Good luck with your chances

UB won't leave, he likes whining, he's good at it and has had a lot of practise.
I've met a number of people like him who are devoid of anything positive or constructive and for whom nothing is ever right: the government's sh**, the country's sh**, their job is sh**, the place they live in is sh**, the beer in the pub is sh** etc. Their unhappiness is ALWAYS someone else's fault and after some preparations are made (selling house | waiting for annual bonus | waiting to apply for visa etc), they'll be leaving the country and heading abroad because life is SO much better there.
Then you see them again a few years later, they're still here and they're still moaning
But if you prove me wrong UB, well don't let the door hit your *** on the way out (as the saying goes).
Gary.

Such as I would expect from a tabloid type such as yourself.
practise? You need to get some spelling practice in there 'm8'

It is a fact that Labour in any form have always hated people to have the freedom of private cars, it does not surprise me that much to see all these proposals. Its a typical sign of an authoritarian organisation.

Talking about people voting the government out - If I was proposing to do this - I'd keep it quiet until I got re-elected for another 4 year term - then *whammo* - you've got four years of it to get used to it............hmmmm
After 4 years how much of an issue will it be then - it will be everyday practice.....
Short of massive public revolt and a coup d'etat it would be in & working....
