POLL - Who will you be voting for in the elections
#62
Shame the polls don't reflect this place really- well for you lot anyway.
How about a rename of the entire site to "ToryNet" judging by this poll.
I'll enjoy crowing about labours 3rd term after the election, not that it will bring me much joy personally save you lot (you tory lot that is)being hung out to dry for another 5 years.

LAB 0 0 403 -403
CON 602 437 0 +437
LIB DEM 21 0 30 -30
OTH 23 0 4 -4
Or NL - 0 seats a loss of 403. In reality it is looking like anything between a hung parliament to a majority of about 100 depending on which poll you use. I think NL will be getting back in, but they won't have much of a majority, the slightest rebellion and the government will have problems.

Having read all the posts, it looks as though all the "ranting" is being done by those who can't wait to subjugate this country to the rule of Europe!
Incidentally I deliberately did not suggest who to vote for in my earlier post, but purely how important it is to actually do so.

Thats his point he thinks the trouble has already started. Once you launch a quango to spend 100 million investigating how to improve school dinners without investing another 100 million in them it can get a bit out of control and hard to stop.

At the moment we still have full voting rights to say who we want to run our own country and therefore have the biggest effect on our lives. If this country becomes federated with Europe then we can only vote for 10% of the total number of seats in the European Parliament which is where all our laws would be made and thus dictate our future. I have already indicated the corruption at the heart of European government.
I find it difficult to understand why some people think that is alright. How can anyone believe that sort of corruption by the leaders can be perfectly acceptable. We are looking at gross corruption over 10 years! Looks like your figures were out as well Paulr.
The major difference is that we can still kick out our own government when it screws up or shows itself to be untrustworthy. That way we can still have some kind of power over our own futures.
That is the very basis of British democracy and it would be a fatal mistake to throw it all away as well as our civil liberties.
The point about Habeas Corpus is that you can't say it has not done any good because it has protected us from illegal imprisonment for all those years just by being there. if it had not been then there may well have been many more people in the past who joined the World's great "disappeared!
If we give that sort of power to the politicians, we cannot predict that there won't be an evil government in the future which will take full advantage of the loss of our civil liberties.

hmmm I dunno who to vote for tbh... I follow politics quite closely but dont really feel that any of the parties stand for anything I have a passion about.
The lib dems were my favourite at the last election purely becuase they approached it from the view point of.... If you want better public services be prepared to pay more taxes. While the other parties insisted they were going to put extra in to services and magically this money appeared from no where, despite it obviously coming from "stealth taxes".
This time around the lib dems seem to have cocked up big style. What the fek were they thinking with policies such as "not locking up women". Ermm yeah right wtf is all that about.
My main problem with politics over here at the moment is the amount of tripe and bull you have to get through to get to the real issues. Anyone ever watched PM question time in the house? Remind anyone of 3-4 year olds in the playground?
And these people run our country ?? :/ ffs stop pratting about blaming one another for years of either partys inadequacies (sp?) and start putting things right and getting younger people interested in politics!
I guess for me it will be a no vote again this time round
