I have had my MY00 heads matched to the bore of the 2.5 on 180 degree radius, leaving the parts above the inlet ports and below the echaust ports the same bore as the 2.0l. I have then had a 5 degree tapered edge applied to the whole circumference of the the chamber of the heads. I have then had the inlet and exhaust ports professionally ported for maximum benefit, combined with adding the full sti5 valvetrain.
Hopefully that will give me more go, and also stop the problems i was having with the standard MY00 Uk heads.

That sounds like alot of work...how much did that set you back?
Where did you get the STi5 valvetrain from?
PS Block is paid for, it was the STi3 heads that were sold even though still listed on ebay...
Anyone know of STi5 kit around?

Is is worth uprating just the pistons on the Sti 2.5L block? I've possibly got a set with rings which wont be too bad on price, but not sure what extra I could get out of it...I don't want to go down the rods and crank route as its just silly money...

I paid crudely £1k for the head work and the STi5 Valvetrain, which i thought was GVFM.
I have RCMS Omega Pistons in mine and Lateral Performance PAR Rods, crank is standard. I went that rout for added safety, and TBH, after 8000 miles of hard abuse (circa 1.6bar on a GT30R), the rods and pistons were perfect (barring the effects of overfuelling on the pistons). It just gave me a bit more reassurance to actually rev the engine properly

Cheers guys...
Order in for pistons and rods change - don't want to end up having the engine removed at a later date for more mods or a repair!
