I found out to my cost last year that they don't cover oil leaks, my rear crank seal was leaking and my main dealer wanted £400 for the honour of changing it.. that was the cost of the years warranty.. needless to say I won't be renewing this year..

And, yes, I have an MX5 and an Impreza and a ............ but thats not what we are talking about here is it?

Perhaps they simply don't want people to take out their warranties anymore?
Maybe it's just not cost effective and so take the pis$ with the prices.
Just like insurance companies do with young drivers wanting to insure powerful cars?

I think a lot of waranty claims and therefore the bump up in prices are down to the MY99/00 MAF being fragile.
Well said John F
So really its the likes of pslewis that has bumped up the warranty for the rest of us driving another 99/00 car!
well done pete

I have just asked the chaps at work what they thought the 6th year warranty cost would be ...... the answers were:-
a. Subarus never go wrong, so about £250?
b. Its a performance car, around £375?
c. £450 tops?
d. Well, you should pay a high rate looking at the servicing costs, £425?
When I showed them, and I HAD to show them, the 'Just £1233' they were complete aghast, shocked and finally laughed their socks off ........ with the question, "What idiot would pay that??"
I do wonder if anyone has?? and why??

Just on the original topic, two owners on the P1 website received their warranty renewal quoting £547 for year 6 up to 80k. Far more myself included have been told £1233.
So unsurprisingly there have been several phone calls to Subaru Warranty asking what the hell is going on.
One of the owners has been told that Subarau are getting a lot of complaints and will be meeting to review their extended warranty prices.
I don't know how true this is, but would suggest that on the basis that there is a review going on the more people that ring/write and complain regarding this price increase. The more likely a price reduction will be considered.
