Perhaps not the best thing when you've just booked to go diving in the Coral Sea a few days later.... the best bit though, we done a shark feed!!!
some nice piccies and i hope to be in Cairns/Port Douglas this September/October, who did you dive with (was it mike ball). We were diving in the whitsundays last year and the crew of Reef jets favourite part on the safety instructions on the way out, was 'we were formerly known as the outer edge from cairns before we got drummed out" i believe outer edge was the name of the boat in question in terms of leaving the divers behind (got the day trippers going ) . Actually watched the film, the day after we got back from Hurghada, one weeks diving, as the wife and my mates missus refused to watch it the night before we went cannot blame them i suppose.

Glad the ozzies have tightened up on the dive boats and recollection of divers procedures..very tight last year when i was there.

Cheers

I'm sure they were treading water and a shark took a bite out of his leg, not a bad one, but then other sharks came and dragged him under - she then took off her floats and slipped under the water

Most boring film I have ever watched I think.

for those that ell asleep....in the flick:

he gets bit, gets bit again in the night....dead by morning from blood loss/exposure commbo..............she lets him go as she realises he's dead- sharks eat him (in full diving gear...must have been those 5 tonners)

in real life.......exposure/dehydration, maybe remove their suits due to the heat (or what they think is heat- dehydrated)...................sink. (or the FBI/CIA get them depending on which version you read)

Hey,

Whitsundays, how nice is that place!!

We did our diving with TAKA Dive. It was a 5 day, 4 night liveaboard (look on the website you will see some info about the tour, its Cod Hole & Coral Sea. We wasn't going to do it and just go out to the Barrier Reef but a couple of Aussie's we met had just come back off the trip highly recommending it, unfortunately it books up a month in advance so we wasn't sure if we would be able to get on. Sure enough we went to the shop, said they had 2 cancellations for the coming trip, $1200 later including advanced dive training, we were going out to the Coral Sea!!

I'm only a beginner with 23 dives now under my belt but they had no problems with that. The Cod Hole on the barrier reef was amazing, a good 30-40m viz and great coral with plenty of fish life. An overnight journey which is guarenteed to get you throwing up see's you at Osprey Reef first thing in the morning, 200k's from land situated on an extinct volcano with 1000m dropoff's. The viz here is a clear 60m, awesome stuff!

TAKA were totally professional and well worth the money. We did a few other day dive trips but they don't come close in comparison, from the vessel to the food to the dive equipment to the staff. Top notch, 5 stars!

Can't comment on Mike Ball but I figure they will be pretty much the same, just remember to book a bit in advance to guarentee your places.

Anything else you want to know let us know...

James

James, it was excellent, some fast currents and viz down to 8 metres , but a 27 degrees cold , but stunning coral and fish, would absolutely go back tomorrow though

I ordered it on Sky Box Office last night.

We spent more time talking about sharks/the ocean in general! Not the sort of film I'd like to watch normally, but it was very thought provoking, for me

She was a whiney bitch!!

the most interesting thing about the film is if you google the two lead characters real names (Lonnegan??) and see all the conspiracy theories that come up.
much more ineteresting.

I learned that sharks don't actually like the taste of human flesh, thats why they (usually) only have one bite and bugger off
