I suppose I could have a lamourghini if I wanted ....... would be a waste of money to me.

I hate wasting money, when you have cut your knees on the backstreets of Middlesbrough without money for socks ......... its very, very difficult spending money on non-essentials

Buying a BRAND NEW Impreza was out-of-character, but I just had to have one! I'm NOT normally that impulsive!

IMO £77 for a new MAF sensor would be a good idea if it reduces the chances of spending £2000+? on a blown engine.

Maybe not every service but once a year cant hurt.
The oil change procedure may or may not help the life of the engine (although you can never be too carefull),but a dodgy MAF sensor will kill the engine, this 'can' be proven by the techys.

Proven??

I'm sorry, but an Enthusiast's opinion is not proof .... as well meaning, and interesting to note, as it may be.

I cannot get a Subaru Dealer to acknowledge any problem whatsoever with the MY99/00 MAF Sensor!

Don't you feel that you lost the argument with me many months ago??

What does it feel like to be so consumed by a make believe cyber character on an Internet Bulletin Board, that you can barely contain yourself??

Ah, you're the best Pete, finally got me rumbled. Yeah, live at home with Mummy who died three years ago. Bless her, we still get on so well, and you know, you're right, the view from behind the keyboard makes the world seem SO much safer.

Btw, if you want to accurately quote someone in future, all you have to do is put the arrow on 'reply' and left click. Such a simple thing to do, and yet it managed to baffle an engineer of even your eminence.

Ok i,ve waded through the crap and bull**** provided by both side of the argument.

i have to say much as i dislike saying it, i agree with pissy!!!

and before any of you keyboard experts chip in with your "expert opinion"

hear me out!!!!

I raised a similar concern in the GM days, and was pilloried somthing rotten by the Sn sheep....

i pissed myself laughing when GM fired back the line..

you should always pre fill a filter when changing the oil..

hmm ever done one on a mini !!! or a volvo 340

that bull**** statement has overcome physics and gravity...!!

your the intelligent lot you work it out.!!!

To shut this debate up once and for all!!!

petes given his argument. and its solid.

for all the SN oil change experts.

SPEAK with DATA !!!

produce the Official service bulliten that states all the plugs out prefilling malarky!!

if its gospel from IM it will be in writing as an official service update.

And more so an update to the owners hand book would have been mandatory.

my handbook states nothing about taking the plugs out, prefilling with oil.

its up to you guys..

put up or shut up

I am a member of an Internet BBS

I can be whatever I want to be

I sometimes live on here in cyberspace .... I KNOW whats real and what isn't!

PLEEEEEZE tell me you don't think this is the REAL world???

Its been said a million times before, but some of you need to realise that the Internet is a parallel world, its never crosses into reality.

Which, I believe, is where I came in at the 1st post ...... where I said that something posted somewhere on the Internet starts to become the 'Truth' .. the MAF Sensors failing probably only applies to a tiny % of Subarus (and then probably only to those who have had an Induction Kit in-expertly fitted) .. the 'Special Oil Change' started by someone who knows very little about Oil and its properties ..... but they start to become facts and truths.

This is a great community, with excellent people, who have helped me and me them .............. some know where I am coming from and see the joke ... some don't ........

BUT, it isn't real!!

Enjoy your afternoons
