ps i think you will find that you make progress at an increasing rate now you can walk about. i certainly seem to have come a long way since the 19th. yes there is a fair way to go, but certainly seems brighter now without the sticks!

Si,
the latest on the leg scenario is... on 31st May xray showed the tibia was filling in at the front. but the side view showed the break had made no progress at all from the middle of the bone to the back - still a 3/4mm gap.
so on the 12th July i go into hospital to have the fixed screw removed from the top of the nail. this is intended to allow the nail to slide a little causing the bone to come together, cause bleeding and stimulate growth. i can't see how this will work as there is bone already grown back at the front.. but hey i'm in IT, not a doctor! will keep you posted.

I'm sorry to hear the recovery has stalled a bit M8
Try to remain positive, i'm sure they would've come across the sitution before.
Not much to report on my side other than i'm back at the hospital on 7/7 for my next x-rays and talk with the consultant. I'm certainly not back to normal though things have improved. I do my physio exercises and walking but one thing that i think holds me back is my job which consists of sitting behind a desk for 8 hours a day (gotta keep remembering to have a wander about)
will let you know how i get on

hi Si,
well... had my mini-op on Wed 13th Jul. So far no noteable difference, though i expect it to take a little while and plenty of impact type work to compress the nail and bring the bone together. as stated above i am unsure how effective it'll be... but am trying to be optimistic and do as i have been told.
how were your xrays, and chat with the consultant?

ps.. fortunately it didn't break the skin, so scarring from the op is minimal!

cheers mate,
but gotta disagree with ya! in 20+ years of football and other sporting activities, this is the only injury of this magnitude i have ever picked up. for the first time i'm now having to consider other methods of keeping fit.

sorry for the delay in replying but i've just returned from a week away in the lakes
Op done then, l hope things move on for you M8
I was at the hospital on 7/7 and everything seems to be still moving in the right direction (slowly of course) and i was discharged from physio.
Next appt 12/1/06 for more x-rays and the decision whether the metalwork remains in or not.
