Picked up my MY99 from Holland on 3rd July 1999, arrived in Hull on my birthday 4th July 99 , drove home to Teesside and then had to garage it for a couple of weeks until registration sorted . So in a couple of months i'll have had it for 6 years and currently done 53,080miles.

Pete,
I have never replaced the MAF sensor, nor have I blown up my engine. I take it to Knockhill a couple of times a year, so it does get thrashed occasionally.
On the road I seldom go above 5000 rpm. Even after 127k miles it uses NO and I mean NO oil between normal 7.5k service intervals. I have always used Mobil Motorsport 1 or a similar oil from Silkolene or Motul on acouple of occasions.
I think a load of nonsense about the relative reliability of cars is aired on this and other forums. It's usually down to the driver. Some people never wreck cars, bikes or any other machinary. Others can't help themselves.

I have owned my Purple Scooby since April 1999, so 6 years, longest I kept a car before the Scooby was 18 months. It had 45,000 miles on it when I bought it and it's still only on 56,000 miles, need to drive it more I think

There is a thread on here about a poor soul who looks like he has blown his engine ....... he was doing 140MPH - but, to some on here it is PROOF that the incorrect Oil Change Procedure was carried out and/or the MAF Sensor has gone (as they always do, of course!)

Bought mine (UK MY95) in Nov 98 when it had 60k on it. It's now done 215k miles and still going strong. Only bit's I've changed are MY00 seats, MY99 wheels, Decat mid section and BB. Problems... few really.. new Rad, top hose, 2 x cam position sensors, clutch, drop links... that's about it

6yrs and 80,000 miles. I've done 140 and it hasn't blown up yet
It's had 1 MAF and 1 O2 sensor in it's lifetime. Both times you could feel it wasn't running right and was quick and easy to diagnose.
