As an all rounder it has been stated (from what I have been told and understand) the T25 is the ultimate Impreza.

As an all out, ***** out Impreza (again from people that have driven all manner of Scoobs, so not from personnal experience) the Spec-C is the better.

As Big Brother says... "YOU decide"

All are awesome and all have there own strengths and weaknesses...... it's up to what you want at the end of the day.

XRS,
lol

Please note I was very careful how I worded that, by including *probably* and "but people that have have said the Spec C is the better car for a ***** out car" Since I guess the T25 is aimed at a different market, I figured my statement was ok.

Regards,
Shaun.
LOL Shaun,

You forgot to insert the *probably*. Where are you going to put it?

There are a couple of factors to take into consideration here.

Spec "C" comes in 3 variants, the 16 inch version which doesnt have alloys (has steel wheels) has the subaru 4 pots (294mm) and no A-DCCD (manual), the 17 inch version (BBS lightweight alloys, A-DCCD and brembo 330mm 4 pots) and a limited edition (year dependent but normally based on the 17 inch version with all the goodies) and please note that you could get the 17 inch version with the electric's pack, though it was an option.

Weight:- 16 inch 1320kg
17 inch 1350kg
Limited 1370kg

These all come with quickrack steering as standard

Pro's:-

Its a total sleeper, people think that as you have the low level spoiler (17 inch, 16 inch doesnt have a spoiler as standard) your a wrx, BIG mistake
Its not "in your face"
Its a great drivers car and the RE070's get better with age

Cons:-

Tyres get better with age, when they are nearly worn out they are staggering but they are nearly worn out
It can be a bit loud due to no sound proofing
Smaller fuel tank than a normal STi (50 v 60 ltrs)
It costs just as much to insure as any other STI (which as it looks like a wrx is a killer )
Try turning up the volume on the radio when driving along

WR1
Limited edition, subaru UK car
Has all the comforts you get with a normal car
Has the same A-DCCD setup as the MY03/4 standard JDM STi's
"Should" hold its value better

You really need to get a ride in any of the cars you wish to own to see if you can live with them (or the other way round) as the Spec C can be a bit harsh, in which case you could go for a standard JDM STi which may be a compromise between the WR1 and the C.
Basically the only person I know who has driven the WR1, T25 and Spec C is John Felstead, he may be able to give you a good comparison of the 3 cars, though the traffic was a bit heavy when he had a go in my Spec C

Hey, Webby. I think you'll find that the "ultimate Impreza" is a nice light-weight classic with the 2.5 lump. Very like the one in my garage, as it happens You could build a very nice MY99/00 with change from £12k, including big brakes and sexy struts.

Good idea to ask Felly - I'd like to know what he says. But remember that he's a rally nut and will blather on about the DCCD

Spot on. I am driving the first T25. Build No 000. You may remember it featured in all the magazines. STUNNING CAR ! I have driven other T25's based on non Spec C's, and for me, they didn't come near. Have to say though, I had a P1, again brilliant car, and perhaps easier to live with.

I had a P1 and have a T20. Personally I'd keep your doe in your pocket, keep the P1, stick some AST's on it, a miltek or similar and have it remapped. It's light already and will fly and handle well. Job done!

Nice idea!

How about a P1 with a 2.5 in it Here's how it's done:

Phone David at API Engines and order 2.5 short motor, TD05 turbo, up-rated top-mount inter-cooler and big scoop, up-rated fuel pump, full de-cat exhaust, EcuTek-3 remap. Book fitting date.

Drive in Monday, hand over £4k (ok, £5k with all new bits) drive home Friday and say hello to massive torque and 350bhp with a huge

Richard.

PS When the clutch gives up, fit AP unit. When gearbox gives up, take it back for a 6-speeder and FMIC. While you're at it, get Andy F to make the TD05 into a TD05/6-20G. Say hello to 400bhp and waste 911 Turbos with a gentle squeeze of the right foot Should be reliable if you can resist the temptation to tweak it to 450bhp, and really nice to drive (unlike peaky Evos).

PPS If going the 2.5 route, get insurance first. Try A-Plan.

Could u guys point me in the right direction please.

Is the spec c really basic, ie no a/c or electric windows?
just roar power and go like stink?

Wr1 to heavy and would be a let down compared too the good old P1?

Any one know where there is specs for the spec c, equipment levels like interior spec etc?

Thanks in advance Phily B
Phil I had a P1 from new.
I think you will find all the cars mentioned a little heavier to drive but in terms of traction and up-to-dateness there really cant be any comparison.
Think carefully about wether or not you find a warranty important.
Has always been to me which is why I have always bought UK`s best at the tim.
I also think official UK cars hold their value a little better.
If you decide to go the Import route then iain certainly knows his stuff and thats where I would spend my money and hey maybe one day we`ll get a deal sorted between us Iain
I use my WR1 as a daily driver and to be honest I`m pretty hard on my cars.
Just replaced the tyres after 9000 miles road only!!
Oh and pads.
I know the car can be improved quite easilly and to be honest the only thing I AM going to do to it is the suspension.....probably a trip to Iain with the T25 set up.
I am fitting some different pads and a set of steel hoses and better fluid next week and that will improve that area.
I want a lower car that has a better ride that can be stiffened for the occasional track day.
The T25 I drove was very impressive but when I change the suspension on my car the only difference between it and my car when sorted was the engine.
2.5 is very impressive almost lazy.
Have ragged a few spec c`s to and again very impressive but I like a few creature comforts as an every day car.
The LTD version maybe worth a look.
Tyres also make a lot of difference to all thge above cars. The Bridgestones on the imports are a fare bit better in the dry than ****ty P Zero Nero`s.
Just fitted some Michelin Pilot 2`s to my car and it turns in so much better.
As far as understeer in my car well I dont get any its more oversteer.
I think there are some pretty crappy drivers out there who blame a car for their own incompitence.
Insurance is also worth considering as the UK cars are a fair bit cheaper.
PS Twin scroll picks up better than a PPP`d uk car but no real power difference.
My car does what it says on the tin as I have had it on the rollers with only 750 miles on it.
Now bound to be a few bhp more.
Good luck

Definately doesnt sound like an evo (which is more like a nissan micra with a big exhaust! )
Sounds more like a jet fighter on take off
You have a slight whistling sound on tickover, you dont have the flat 4 sound, but then again you dont miss it this is a completely different character, id go as far as to say, better than the flat 4 "burble" of the uk and older cars, more grown up but more rally/race car rather than vauxhall nova

...Oh yeah, and watch your fuel needle fall as you 'gently squeeze' your right foot

Phil at Welptons has his Spec C (more or less) as he wants it and he brought it to last thursdays meet, just ask him!

I'm assuming you've got the Miltek exhaust fitted, Tony. Wasn't impressed with the sound of the standard exhaust, which was a bit whiney and way too quiet, but the Miltek does sound like a jet.

And,from the look on the face of the guy driving the MX-5 I overtook yesterday, it sounds just as good from the outside.

Nope standard exhaust, h&s backbox (3 inch) but the b/b does make the car sound deeper just ask those who have seen her on the rolling road
