No my point was simply that the ACTUAL adviser prob sold beliving it was right.......so while hindsight shows it wasnt - the original sale wasnt born out of some evil greed.

But if the original sale had been explained and documented properly any potential complaint would have been refused. Have you had a complaint Tiggs? I haven't had one upheld, even by the FO. That said, the guy who sold me my endowmnent in 1993 met me in a car park and said 'sign here, you need this to get a mortgage' - soon I had a crap Allied Dunbar endowment

But the standard of required documentation was much less then......i agree corners where cut....i was just pointing out the motivation of the sales person was not bad (happy for the comission...but not bad)

me? i have had no complaints......but i only sold one endowment and two pensions....ever.....and am not likely to do any more as i work in IHT so its 60% investment, 10% WOL & 30% Wills.

PMSL , wanna buy an Endowment, fell off teh back of a lorry....LOL....

PErsonally I have had 4 Endowments, 2 matured about 5 years ago and one was £700 over and the other £400 under. They were small value as it was for a flat. I've still got 2 standard life ones that **** me off every year with more bad news and more difficulty of getting my cash out. Not secured agains property now so just a savings vehicle.
However if I'd been sticking it in the bank I'd probably not have £30K as I'd have potentially dipped in. I'm not unhappy about the sales of any of these as I took it as it was explained to me, although I'm 100% sure I was NEVER offered a repayment mortgage.
I'm pissed at the performance however which for me is the biggest issue, all this BS about stock market performance etc wasn't brought up in the late 90s and early 2000 when markets were flying and I was still only getting single figure bonus %ages.
