Have you checked to see if the price includes the engine?

My uncle picks his up on Saturday, I wasnt meant to know, he was just going to turn up in it, it being the same colour as my dads 190+, my dad being hopeless at keeping secrets let the cat out of the bag, cant wait to have a go in it, its brand new and apparently they need running in properly, particularly the diff I was told, I suppose its the ultimate Rover that ever got made (not counting the SV which I have never ever seen), it will go nicely with his mint 20k miles BRM. I have had it with Rovers personally after my BRM disaster, but then I have had it with Fiats and a few others, I would make an exception for the 260, even at the vastly inflated price of 15 grand !

I wasnt slagging M5's off (Superb car), just pointing out that for 20 grand you can have a brand new 400 bhp car for the price of a 'pre enjoyed' M5, the point being that some have been a bit over enjoyed after 5 years, I think the MG will hold together as well (almost) as the BMW, based on the fact that most of it is aftermarket kit such as the very understressed Ford motor (even supercharged with 400 bhp its reliable), Tremec gearbox and the fancy diff that gets shoved in much more powerful cars, the only bits I would worry about are the electrics.

And anyway, whats all that about above all its not a Rover/is a BMW, I think you will find that Rovers are now exclusive cos they dont make them any more, unlike the BMW which is soooo common, dont take the bait, I am just winding you up, try and have a sense of humour about your car, Rover/MG owners do, they have to, its been a comedy of errors and although BM's are wonderful, just think if we all had them you couldnt be superior.

Not sure why any company would sell them at that price (even Ebay them !), double that and they would be cheap, nine grand doesnt even get you a reasonable hot hatch, at 15 grand they are still cheaper than a Civic Type R, I like the Type R but the ZT is a lot more car for the money and very competent if you read the qrite ups.
I bet the motor's not bullet proof! or will last 100k without breaking down!! I'd cry if I feckin found one

I think you will find that 10,000,000 Ford owners plus in the states find it quite reliable, it turns up all over the place, Pickups, Mustangs etc etc, its a big strong, simple low revving lump without any turbo's, superchargers, variable whatnot to go wrong, throw some clean oil at it every 6,000 miles and it will go on for much more than 100,000 miles, Yank design isnt the most esoteric, clever or economical but they get the job done. The clever bit being the engine doesnt know or care about the Rover reputation.

Definitely interested at that price. Do they take credit cards? When's it all happening, as I'm going to be away for the next two weeks?

Sat next to a V8 ZT-T at the lights yesterday, sounded lurvely as it gently moved off. Had a good nose around the saloon at the last Motor Show and they definitely had something about them for me.

Just think -- if they'd priced them at £15k (somehow) they'd have sold 'em by the bucket load.

I've been told I can get an 6month old ex demo 260s for about £15-16K.

Although judging by the somewhat dubious source I guess they maybe nicked off a certain airfield belonging to a certain ex-car manufacturer

My uncle picked his 04, ex demo 260 up last week, 160 miles on the clock, really nice car.

He paid 15,500 from a Rover dealer in Nottingham, Priory I think it was, it came with a years RAC warranty, the engine light came on and they paid for it to be sorted here in South Manchester.

It sounds well but some louder pipes will no doubt be fitted soon as it isnt loud enough for his tastes. Seems very well built, the back axle is a sight to behold, it has shock absorbers on the diff ! and is very beefy looking , its odd seeing Ford badged parts on a Rover, the wiring and installation of the engine is a bit workmanlike, i.e. not the tidiest job and I would have been dissapointed if it were full price but for 15 grand its a bargain, you cant even get a new Civic type R for that, not dissing the type R as its a good car but this is a lot more car for the money.

My dad has the 190+ in the same colour so we were playing spot the difference, my dad has now come over like Andy (as in Lou and Andy) off Little Britain, as in

"Dont want it, want that one"

So I suspect it may only be a matter of time until my dad gets one, he says not but I reckon he will get one and get the Roush Supercharger conversion, bit of sibling rivalry !
