It's Japanese Turbo Barge syndrome. You see, when you've just been subject to an embarassing overtaking manouvre by little Jonny in his misfiring 1.1 litre Saxo, it's tradition to park up, lift the hood, and stand there rubbing chin and wonder where all those horses went. Left unattended, said horses should return in time for your home journey.

The underbonnet temperatures drop far quicker with the bonnet open after a track thrash. Thermal management is of crucial importance with a modified turbocharged motor. My bonnet will be opened for these reasons.
