Now that you have peoples votes on whether they have ever ran a red light or not, has this made you feel any better about your punishment as one of those who does run red lights?

I like the US rules "right turn on red", and they even go as far as putting up signs telling you if the junction you are on allows it or not (Ohio and Illinois). It helps keep the traffic flowing so much better and reduces the frustrations of sitting at red lights with nothing else happening. There is one little problem with it, which is why it will probably never happen here - the Red against you also applies to pedestrian crossing cycles, so you can right turn on red, but you must give way to both traffic and pedestrians.
