Aldi - for when your too chav for Kwik Save ![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
If you were called a chav, was it just becuase of the car? Clothes tend to be the biggest indication.
Most Sundays I get up very early to go RC car racing. I just chuck a cap on to save time and I'm quite aware this probably makes me look like a chav. Driving a Sonic Blue Impreza with gold wheels and a 3 foot long "Prodrive" sticker on the front splitter may well giv ethe game away.

what's this rubbish about people shopping at cheaper stores being chavs? I shop at the cheaper stores whenever I can, because *IT IS CHEAPER* and thus I save money I can put towards other things. I don't understand the stigma attached to shopping in e.g. Lidl, I really don't.
I'm proud that I have become sensible enough to buy 4 pound jeans instead of the 50 quid Wrangler's (or whatever they were called) I used to buy when I was younger. I'm also proud that I can now go into asda and not feel ashamed of buying the smartprice stuff when I a couple of years ago would not have been seen dead in cheap clothes or having cheap products in my shopping basket. Incidentically, the wranglers used to wear out a lot faster than the tesco ones.
Having said that, I don't always buy the cheaper stuff, because sometimes it is genuinely worth to pay a bit more for a product that is better, but in so many cases what is perceived as being better is the image that is touted by advertising campaigns, and it has nothing to do with the actual quality of the product.
Coincidentically, isn't it a bit chav to call someone chav for not shopping in an expensive store?![Smile](images/smilies/smile.gif)
25 going on 70

By the looks of it, he's still got it.
Suggesting Wrangler jeans were fashionable - whatever next!!!!

However, I do agree to a point. I'll buy reasonably expensive stuff to go out with but knocking about and day to day, I'd rather buy cheap clothes and it doesn't matter if I sit in front of TV and dribble on them.

My post wasn't directly aimed at anyone here, I suppose, but more at society in general.
There is a lot of stupid snobbery at the moment, mostly from the "new rich" class (i.e. my house price has increased by 100% in a year, so I must now be rich and I never have to pay back the money I took out by Mortgage Equity Withdrawal) living beyond their means.

Sounds like a Q for another "Look at my REALLY expensive watch" thread.
Like accusing people of having "low level jobs".

If someone had called me a chav I would have told 'em to fork off. I don't mind mates or family calling me a chav but some total stranger calling you anything needs a slap.

In my attached links I was refering to the fact that, the 'arab' was insulted by a 'stranger'. By your analogy he would have been within his rights to 'give him a slap'.
I don't think that would have happened, would have been funny if it did; and THAT was on tape!
Perhaps irony was the wrong description, I thought it seemed right at the time. Sorry.

If owning an Impreza makes me a chav, then bling me up real nice!!
You should have just muttered "nice suit baldy!" under your breath and seen what his response was!
Better still, sued him for discrimination!
Chavs have feelings too you know!!![Smile](images/smilies/smile.gif)

Chavs are no longer a pocket in society or a minority - they ARE the youth of today. It's fashionable it seems.
Britain has a MAJOR problem with it's youth culture. Backed up by highest drug abuse/teen pregnancy in Europe. Blatant degradation of respect and values we're descending into one of the most slobbish un-cultured societies in Europe.
Embarrassing.

If he called you a chav you should have met his expectations and:
- flobbed a big greeny at him
- stubbed a *** out on the top of his head
- swore profusly at him
- nicked the stereo out of his car
- found out where he lived and fly-tipped your fridge, pram, microwave etc on his drive.
Cheers
