5 runs i had
1 1.781 10.93 132 (1st EVER drive of the car)
2 1.873 11.08 132
3 2.099 11.27 131 (1/4 final)
4 1.899 10.93 132 (Semi final)
5 1.884 10.94 132 (Final)
I pretty sure i can get them down to low 1.7's with practice, bearing in mind i had never driven the car before run no 1.

Just checked, and Bruntingthorpe has a 2 mile straight. I don't think there's a 3/4 mils run off at Elvington, it certainly doesn't feel like it at 190mph

why do you need 600+ bhp to hit over 200mph?
the F40 broke it with 430bhp, the xj220 was in the low 500s and it hit 217.5.
I appreciate their aerodynamics are fer better, but without comparing the two side by side and with equations, how can someone so easily say it can't be done without a certain power level?
From what mark tells me the car was still pulling strong, and he was also driving into a head wind with the nasty spoiler in place.

From: Leeds - It was 562.4bhp@28psi on Optimax, How much closer to 600 with race fuel and a bigger turbo?

My rear diff output shaft from Sunday.
Snapped clean off where it enters the propshaft !
Snap !
Further cracks
In the last pic, the lines you can see are actually cracks in the shaft a few mm's deep.

Believe me you will require 650+ bhp in a Scoob at Brunters or Elvington its a very short straight. even a Yellowbird Porsche only reached 197 there . The 223mph Ultima managed 204mph & the Mclaren f1 did 211.
Proof is in the pudding. The Norris EVO did 200.7 with 730bhp, the Corrolla did 200.4 with 650 & mine managed 201.8 with circa 700.

Weld it
nah, just fit another one and see how long it lasts, these type of failures tend to be load*time related, I may get reasonable life out another previously unstressed shaft.
Wanted - drop gear (the one that the propshaft plugs into) from any 5 speed JDM scoob 93-05

Failure looks just like pauls driveshaft did, apart from the cracks..
howard @ hdc subaru
or anyone @ the clinic
phill venn (sp) @ Barretts
David @ API
I also believe mark uses uprated drop gears, unsure if the shaft is any stronger though???

Chris, I was talking about Elvington where the runway is 1.92 miles long
Andy, and some more. As David said just like Paul's driveshaft (but with cracks) one wonders if you could get a shaft made without the spiral machining marks, they certainly look like they're adding stress concentration points...

Neil (Bigsinky), i believe the Lateral Performance car ran 560ish bhp on the rollers the day before at Scoobyclinic, no torque plot was done.
Andy,
Elvington uses the short runway for the drag and top speed runs, and you also start a fair way up the runway.
Main runway is the 2 miler

TDO5 turbo by OMA (1.4 / 1.5 bar)
All the usual & necessary bolt-on parts.
Mapped by Michael White.
No weight reduction and running Dunlop SP7000 road tyres (215/45 r17)
Suppose a six speed is the next sensible option. Just got to find and pay for one!

hmmm.
Andy,
dare I say it, but perhaps a new one is the best thing to buy? Then polish out those machining marks and shot peen it?
rear tyres grip quite well then! looks like it could have been worse

It was worse ! At first it didn't look like a big problem, just a driveshaft gaiter gone ?
Then I thought ? how did that fail all the way round at once ?
Does this diff look just a bit lop sided to you ??
The O/S shaft is sitting 30mm higher than the N/S shaft, the whole cradle is twisted.
The torque appears to have twisted the diff in the frame, far enough to chop the gaiter off against the top of the mounting, then sprung part way back !
