An excerpt. ""Biometrics" such as fingerprints, iris images or face scans will be used for the cards but the trials found that not all people could use all the systems.
It was harder to scan the irises of black people and over-59s.
And some fingerprint scanners did not work with large fingers. Ministers say they were only "teething" problems and the technology is on track".
*teething troubles*!!!! They would bl**dy say that wouldn't they? 'cos they can see their mates/their own consultancy deals with ID card firms going down the pan ...
Cynical? Moi ...? Nah .... not me ....

I read in the papers today that the government say that one reason why the cost of ID cards has now escalated to nearly ONE HUNDRED POUNDS EACH (and chavs will get them free, so the employed will pay EVEN more) is that they forgot to include VAT in the pricing!!
