In therory the physical craving for nicotine will only last for 48 hours (once you stop your nicotine intake, be it smoking, gum, patches, etc) as 99% of the nicotine will leave your body in this timeframe.
It's all in your mind if you still want a cigarette now!

Sorry it sounds like I'm preaching! Just basic information available from most stop smoking websites.
I've only just gone past the 48 hours marker, with no issues, cravings or second thoughts.

I think you should now be considering yourself well and truly a NON SMOKER

Well done Deep! Remember NEVER but NEVER have 'just one' when you are sober or 'the old excuse' drunk. NEVER EVER!!!
The worst is over - each craving will last only a couple of minutes now; all downhill

9 months for me so far, still getting easier even now.
I imagine it will be several years before I never think about smoking.
Every time you see someone with a cigarette it reminds you that you crave them somehow. But it's getting easier and thats the main thing.
I'll second some advice above....NEVER have another cigarette as long as you live. The moment you do is the moment you start smoking again.
I love the fact that I can run my Scoob on the money I save more or less.

2 weeks now for me.
No cravings (none that I can't laugh off anyway - it's just the little monster dying) and I'm feeling a lot better already.
Good old Allen Carr!

Lately, I've found myself craving **** only when I am clattered. Last week, I was in such a state and ended up having a few drags of a ***. This, I thought would be the 'kiss-of-death' to non-smoking and have me back on fourty a day. Having taken the drags though, I couldn't for the life of me, work out why I had craved to do it. It did nothing. No nicotine 'rush', no feeling of relief........nothing apart from the foul taste in my mouth.
For me, taking those drags have actually helped and has strengthened my resolve against starting again.
I'm not saying that it will do the same for all though...............

Agree with all above. I know I c'ant be a 'social' smoker, once I have one I'll be on 20 a day again. I was thinking about having a cigar the other day with my beer but thought better of it. Thank god.
I d'ont think I can truly consider myself a non smoker yet. There was a time though when I could never see myself going for a hour without a *** and its now been a month!!
Keep it up everyone, we will suceed

Come on DS!!.....YOU DON'T SMOKE....that's a non smoker!!
Seriously, you made a decision to have your last ciggie a month ago and you've been strong enough, in your mind, to stick to that.
Re-inforce that every day by telling yourself you are a non smoker. At the end of the day..its your mind you have to convince...not your hands or your mouth or your lungs.
Keep up the good work

Deep, it's going to get easier and easier from here on in. Keep it going and try not to whack smokers in the mouth with a brick when you see them and their foul smelling clothes, their halitosis, yellow teeth, and zombie pallor.
You are above all that now.

I am back on them again after being off them for 14 years. used as a prop before christmas as i was going through a pretty stressful time. thought i could give them up easily but i find myself buying more every time i run out. maybe i am not ready to give them up yet, even though the stressful period is now over.

You HAVE to go cold turkey to get rid of the cravings ultimately. All my previous attempts at packing in were 'assisted' and all failed. One week of pure cold turkey and I was off the **** for good, and have been for years. All the best - hope you crack it.
