18th = JDM release - will take another few months to get to the rest of us.
JDM may well be 2.0 twin scroll - dont know what the rest of us would get.
2.5 or twin scroll would suit me just peachy!

[QUOTE=highlander68k]I've heard it should be the most powerful out-of-the-box Impreza STi we've seen yet (in Japan anyway).
QUOTE]
more powerful than wr1? spec c?
somehow i doubt it

Jezus!!!!!
It looks like a grandads car. That front end follows that concept design released a few years ago from the same house that also designed a new super jag. If anyone remembers it and for the life of me I cant remember their name. An Itialian crowd i think. Both design concepts were almost identical.
That front end reminds me of a renault megan. It's the poxy EU pedestrian rules screwing good designs.

Thanks! Any idea on the price and specs vs that of the current JDM (Sti 9 I think).

JDM cars have historically had extra goodies and I dont think this will ever change. They had DCCD before the rest of the world and they've had twin scroll for about 3 years already - no other imprezas have twin scroll setups - tho the Legacies here do. They like to innovate and use Japan as their test market - then pass those changes off to the rest of the world. Remember, Jap Land get 100+ octane out of their pumps too - so detonation is a far smaller factor than say, here in South Africa with a max of 93 inland.
I think JDM car will always be desireable. Cryo treated bits etc... ooo 8-)

That is worse than my old MY01 WRX IMO. I have an Evo 8 at present and quite like the current blob eye and may have considered coming back if the new STi ended up with a 2.5ltr, but I won't be if it looks like that its friggin hideous at the front. Plus what the hell is that piece of plastic stuck near the top end of the rear windscreen, it looks so out of place. They should paint that thing in bright colours and give it to a clown to drive in a circus.

NOTHING could ever look as bad as a MY01 Impreza!!
I quite like it, but I have just been told by my Dealer that they will only be available in October/November and WITHOUT the free PPP.
I think my Classic has a few more years left in my hands then??
The MY00 Impreza remains the Scooby of choice!

y'know what remember the saying.
"you don't look at the mantlepiece when you're poking the fire"
well, if you're sitting in the driving seat ya can't see the front of the car

I really don't get Subaru
They had a massive following with the classic shape, then brought out the nasty 'bug eye', then slightly improved in 03 (?), now this pig!
IMO if Subaru made a car with a front mounted intercooler that actually looked good then they'd have the Evo beaten. They started back in the right direction after the bug eye, now it's all gone a bit silly.

Thats true, however I remember when I 1st got my MY01 when a drunk came staggering down the road pointing and laughing at the front of my car. It didn't take me long to replace with a set of morettes.
