i love classic Scoobys, but i think this is the best front end of the subsequent breeds - although i do agree the grille will definitely need to be treated to some aftermarket treatment (and should look better for it). as far as non-classic cars go, i think its that bit more 'ok' than the others!

Looks like you'll have to wait for the 2006/7 New 2 door model
Apparently going to be called either
1) TOKEN or TOKKAN (sp)
2) ELECTRA
3) TAMA

Who came up with the bright idea that a Subaru all of a sudden has to look like an Alfa/Seat?
Take the Alfa/Seat design off the grille and it will look good. Oh and ditch the roof spoiler, it makes no sense.

Whats the obsession with the classic?
It was of its time, now it looks dated and going back would be a massive mistake.
The bugeye was a huge mistake, with the current car looking much better.
The MY06 gives the Impreza it's meanness back, something the current car sadly lacks besides the EVO 8.
As for the grille looking like an Alfa, have you seen Alfa's?
If anything it looks like Subaru are taking styling cues from BMW.

Judging by the other pics I have seen of the new M5, BMW are taking design ideas from Subaru - looks a lot ruder/more boy racer than other BMW's with it's fair share of grilles, spoilers, lexus lights and exhausts stuck on

somehow i doubt it
The Spec C model has its extras and will no doubt be the ultimate JDM version to buy.

not impressed...danger of scoob falling into the same pitfalls as mitsu. yearly updates, consumers get hacked off, then go buy something else as they can't keep up with things.
personally, not convinced by this. as someone else said, it's jsut a new front and back end. dynamically it'll not be much farther on than where it is right now, looks are certainly no huge step forward...**** end the same...what;s the point? seriously, mitsu and subaru have got into this thing too close to each other, and risk alienating consumers
dont' think i'll be buying one, too samey to the last one, dones;t move the game forward, nor do anything new in this sector.
for something new, exciting, moving the game on, check out the new Clio RS on the Renaultsport website. that IS moving on...can't see me buying another scoob for several years until they sort their game out...

There is a lot more to this new model than meets the eye. It's hard to move the game forward when the technology works so well in the first place. There are some really great alternatives out there, including the Clio RS, VWs and Skodas. It's each to their own (as usual). Personally though, I think this is the best looking Impreza they've made yet. I can't wait to drive one.

Agreed...i'm jsut not convineced this is anything new. i do agree the impreza does a huge amount right, but i for one i'm not convinced this is now 'of the time'. i jsut get the impression mitsu and subaru are still living in the 90s...maybe it's jsut the styling i have a problem with. it's very 'of the moment' - and lets be honest, that new scoob is defo a step backwardscome to think of it, i think it is the design...they stylists that subaru emply are damn awful. why ARE they so bad? is it so difficult to find some good people? i don;t think so...even with these new pedestrian rules, there must be certain wasy to still develop a good looking car...or is this jsut wishful thinking ofn my part?

Just going back to my comment about power and torque. I had another look and don't think I've never seen anything quite like it. The torque peaks quite early and drops down quicker than Rivaldo.

Cant really justify an M5 at the mo.

I bought a Impreza because it has 4 doors loads of space and 4-wheel drive and just enough power to beat most cars on the road in reason, So if the new scooby has all of the above then I might consider it even if it is ugly. And to be honest most brand new cars are ugly not just Subaru's every car manufacturer seems to make there cars look more and more uglier now days.

okay so there i am i look t the link hen see that hideous car that ali-b has put up and i think what the hell is that. that can't be a scooby, no way. who in his right mind would buy that car. plus its a suzuki if i'm correct all was good when i clicked the first link ....... phew....
front end mmm nor too sure ... fog light guards need ditching ... bonnet scoop needs to be another what 25mm deeper and the lights you just know there off a 5 series beemer..... overall i kind of like it. front end needs more agression.... i like cars that make you think "oh ****" when there behind you on roads.

The look is actually trying to be retro-Subaru. Early Subarus had an inverted trianglular bit on the grill. The first Subaru was even called the P-1.
