Don't save very much at the moment. We have a company pension scheme which we pay into. Any other monies left over go towards buying shares in the company.

Like PSL I was taught that if I wanted to buy something, it was a lot better to save up for it.
That way, although you have to wait a bit, it teaches you how to manage your money to the best advantage and its great to own something without going into debt and worrying whether you can continue to pay off the interest.

drive approx 250 miles a day for 6 weeks visiting hospital
look after her for the last 2 years along with the kids and house
she paid more than that into her pension fund over the 12 years she worked there and she will probabally never be able to work again
so on balance i would rather not be in the position to have recieved it
tbh comments like that make me feel like popping over to pay you a visit
do you want to eat your own colostomy bag contents you *****
oh and you are a fecking liar when you say youve never had owt for nowt
remember the workshop manuals you got for nothing

What happened to your wife Richieh? Are your children still young? 20 grand may sound a lot now but with no income coming in it is peanuts really. You dont have to answer if you dont want to, i am just being nosey.

she had a subarachnoid haemorrhage(brain haem) on may bank holiday weekend 2003
had to threaten a doctor in casualty to get her looked at cos they assumed she was pissed up unconcious-then they couldnt do sod all all weekend cos they didnt have the staff and the buget wouldnt allow them to be called in on o.t.-speed of action is apparently very important on these things
2 kids a daughter 11 and boy 17
wife is 35 by the way

It must have been very severe to make her give up work and for you to be her carer. It is also really scary that the hospitial wouldnt do anything when you knew something was seriously wrong. 35 is still young. How much has it impacted on her quality of life?

she used to be a senior 1 theraputic radiographer-bsc msc etc(c. 30k a year-good for s wales)
now she sleeps 12 hrs a day-has constant headaches-has no concept of danger-major left side weakness-cant walk for more than about 100yards without needing to sit down-trouble linking ideas and concepts etc-tires easily eg 30 mile drive and then needs to sleep-cant concentate for long- all similar to stroke symptoms
so yes its been a fair old impact but as it runs a 75% mortality rate we think were doing ok

I try to save as much as I can as I don't own a house. The only way I can buy one is with a hefty deposit as I don't currently earn enough. I can save a high percentage of what I earn as I don't have many outgoings at the moment. I'd feel guilty blowing the lot on cr*p that I don't need, but at the same time I allow myself to live quite well.
By the way, if you look into compounding saved money and adding to it, you can build up quite a good amount over time.

I save absolutely nothing - I have been told they dont have cash machines in heaven so IMO there is no forking point... I shall use my property to fund my pension on the premise that the 60 units of beer and unquantifyable amount of C Class drugs dont kill me first...

Me too. 5.5% guaranteed with no risk to capital is a good rate. Unfortunatley after that c8ck sucking **** Brown has taken his 40% not so good.
Govt always saying we should save more for own old age but they take away all the tax incentives to do so. Save and save so Brown can take 40%+ of it and waste it!!!!!!!!!!!
