Taken from the EA website..
The tench is one of the few coarse fish where the sexes can easily be determined by looking at them. The mature male fish has a greatly thickened second ray and longer pelvic fin, not to mention a tremendous set of knackers.

So anyone get to the lake and "feature find" see what the lake is like?
bottom, soft, hard, depth ? weed?
Find a nice spot and then use a bait rocket ?
Do a few cast with the bait rocket reel in and cast out with your bait 5 mins later you pull in a 18lbs ??

It sucks like a carp mopping up natural bloodworm, or taking a nice piece of crust off the top.
It doesn't suck like a carp eating a rubber marble tasting of synthetic toenail cheese/baked bean/pilchard and concentrated lychee having been brainwashed into the act by an incessant diet of Radio one, microwaves going *ping* tinnies going *psshhhh* and the plod of foosteps back and forth along the bank as so-salled anglers swap ****-mags at midnight of the second day without a nibble. (Breathe)

There is a lot of money being made in France for carp fishing. A weeks fishing on lake is 500+ notes per person and take bookings of 8 and the lake is for just those 8 people. So they get 4k to drive the 8 people by minibus down to the lake via eurotunnel, provide them lodging and food and fishing on a private lake for a week. That sounds like an easy 4k a week to me, especially as many of the lakes are booked up months and months in advance, they are making a fortune! No point trying to jump on the band wagon now though, I looked into it and the market is now saturated with French Carping holidays and all the good carp lakes in North France have already been bought up and made into this business.
The French have never used these lakes for carp fishing, so all these old lakes with monster carp have been unfished. They are unspoilt and contain fish unaware of the baits - it makes very good fishing for a week catching monsters every day.

Fished one lake and the owner ex SAS uses night scopes to check people are
1) ok
2) not messing about
3) Actually on the lake
The lake is near a pub and some fishermen tend to leave there rods out fishing while in the pub up the road what Ar$eholes
He caught 2 guys doing that waited for them to come back well pi$$ed and kicked them off the lake
Also called up the local bobbie and told him 2 guys will be leaving the lake soon and drunk in a car
