Looks are a personal thing, I think the Cupra is more aggressive looking and looks more like a hot hatch compared to the vRS but each to their own.
I do actually really like the Fabia and for the price you really cant go wrong, I have sat in one and it does feel like you are sitting in a top quality VAG car wich is something you dont experience as much in the Ibiza.

My local Skoda dealer has a friendly partnership with a local well know tuner. The main dealer even offers remaps.
Recently they had a Fabia vRS demonstrator with 230bhp 350lbft (Revo remap and NOS), full exhaust system, PD160 intake, FMIC, coilover suspension, 17" Alloys and Octavia vRS brakes. A very interesting drive.
As regards warranty I suppose it's how honest the dealer is with Skoda UK.
Cheers

I know one company that has 215hp and 320-330 lb/ft - but that has had a different turbo / intercooler and exhaust as well as a custom map.
With different maps available - on a standard turbo intercooler set up you are looking between 170-185 hp and 295-330 lb/ft. Remember these figures are at on point only - but a look at the '2.0 audi repamp thread' will demonstrate the way 2 maps can work with power and torque delivery.......

180bhp Remap and 50bhp NOS.
Suspect the remap power would actually be a little higher as 180bhp is obtainable without the exhaust and induction mods.
Will have a look at the other thread.

I've run some real driving tests and no way near is this car 0 - 100 in 30 secs.......in standard form its more like 23 seconds and I def got under 9 seconds to 60 and that was with a sympathetic launch. The official figures are way off!!
I know 23 secs to 100 isnt fast but bearing in mind thats in standard form and then you chip it.........
Also the 6th gear acceleration is way above some performance hatches....if you dont believe me, put your hot hatch in top gear and gvie me the number of seconds it took to go from 70 - 100 mph .
yes, yes I hear you cry, but I would change down.......yeah well while your changin.....I'm acceleratin.........

Just been down to local Skoda dealers to see what all the fuss about , and I really liked it , much better in the flesh than in the pics he gave me a copy of Autocars long term test
" The Fabia brings Golf class standards of interior trim to the super mini class , its as grown up a little car as money can buy and in vRS form its got adults only performance too , for the money , nothing can match its pace frugality and practicality . as a ownership proposition its pretty bullet proof "
I have been thinking about another performance car since getting rid of the STI PPP but the cost of ownership just put me of , just want something fun to drive without the looks of a full on rally rep and without the expense
Think Skoda might have another sale coming there way

The amount of people I see in the 3rd lane of the motorway doing 90+
I would say the majority of people break 80.......well apart from the sandal lovin brigade and the fookin down right dangerous ***** doing 45 mph with that vacant look of 'idiot' written all over their faces.

Misty,
Diesels are slow. They would be no match for you mighty CTR; on the road, "in the real world" or round a track.
I am so convinced that you and I are both right that I'd be happy for you to show me just how much quicker round a track your CTR would be than my humble (and inordinately slow) diesel is. Then there'd be no more arguements, eh?

120 is twice the speed limit on a roads, and theres not that many streteches of uncongested a-road where that sort of speed is safe, especially not for an overtaking manouvre..

I have now had a REVO remap on my vRS and it most definitely is a performance car now. The car pulls all the way where previously it had nothing left at the top end. On the motorway it is fantastic too as there is so much torque to call on at any time.
They claim 180 bhp and about 290-300 ibft torque.

Please please take up the challenge and go head to head with Jons Octavia "SDi".
It would be most amusing to watch.
