16s with 205/50 performance (non runflat) rubber is the best setup for handling/grip (as tested in many EU and US mags on track and road). 17s look good and with 205s performance tires they are an ok choice but rolling weight and shoulder width mean less performance. 18s or over is just for looks (if you are into that look) but completely ruin the car's handling performance.

Greg, I have a Jan 2004 MCS for sale, with 220bhp BBR conversion (since 1300 miles) and now on 13800 miles. HK sound system, chilli pack, 17" alloys, aero kit and much more. Fantastic little car and not a mark on her. More than welcome to view and test drive, I promise you would not be dissapointed.
