as i have 2 cats and 2 children, youngest is 8 weeks now.
get a ultrasonic cat scarer near every main entrance to your house. if you need to have doors and windows open get a net for the cot, it has to be tight fitting.
if the cat comes into the house squirt it with a water pistol, after a couple of hits it will not come back anymore and will not harm it apart from making it lick itself dry for a while.
