Shafted by Subaru

As a more valid comparison. Say you bought a house just before the housing market collapsed, would you expect the vendor to give you some money back?
I didn't realise there were so many naive people out there!

And yes before you ask, this has happened to me in the past, on more than one occassion, not with Subaru's but other car manafacturer's and motocycle's. If Subaru agree to compensate those who "just missed out", where will it stop? Will all the people who bought a car, just before those who got compensated, expect to get compensated, and so on, it would be a never ending story. I know it's not a nice thing to happen to you, BUT at the end of the day no one forced you to buy your car when you did.

Guys - if you buy a sofa form DFS, then two weeks later on its in the sale for half what you paid - would you go back and demand your money back?
Its a sale fellers. No seller will ever say "dont buy today - wait till next week" unless they enjoy going out of business.
Its a business folks - not a charity
Get over it and move on....

where the servicing deal is concerned I missed, so life sucks! What really gets me is the standard prices so I exercise my right to choose to go elsewhere, everyone else can too.
If I had missed out on the PPP deal I guessed I would have been a bit pissed too but again life sucks.
There was a time when Subaru were known for bullit proof reliability and the dealers were reckoned to the best around, how time change, a shame I think Will I buy another Scoobie next time, probably, will I buy from my local dealer again, only maybe. i certainly don't have any of the loyalty to them now that I had only a couple of years ago

if you missed out tough get over it they run the offers for 3 months at a time and it's true dealers don't know until a day or so before the offer starts. i missed out on a free chicken at tescos the other day cos i brought one a day early but im not going to get an ulcer over it and sulk because they won't give me a back dated one, it's life it happens ok some now get the free ppp but they have to pay for sevicing whereas those who brought early don't.

Just some thing to concider guys, with the MY06 available from October, it is highly likley that Subaru will drop the prices by a fair amount on their remaiming stock of Blob eyes as they did on the Bug eyes, to make way for the new model.
Hanging on a few months for a MY05 model might mean missing out on the free PPP, but it might save a stack of cash.

Customer Service ?
Here is the text of a letter I wrote to IM and the reply.

Dear Mr Kinnaird:
As the owner from new of a Subaru Impreza WRX Sti Type UK can I firstly congratulate you on providing an amazing product, I have been waiting and saving for several years to purchase the car and I can only say it was well worth the wait. I had no idea you could make your face hurt with grinning too much!
The only complaint I have is with your Marketing in respect of this Model. I accept that “Free Servicing” was offered initially to help to clear the stocks of the older 04 Model year cars, not withstanding this I placed my deposit and decided to wait for a new Model Year 05 car. This I took delivery, after a wait of 8 weeks on October 28th 2004 from Holdcrofts in Newcastle, Staffordshire. I paid the new increased price to my dealer despite your prices being increased after my deposit had been paid. I also took advantage of your offer of “Six Star Service” and agreed to pay a monthly direct debit to cover servicing costs this was I believed a sensible commercial decision on my part.
Imagine my horror when your company then decided to reinstate the “Free Servicing “ offer once again this time including cars from the new model year. My dealer told me their was noting I could do as this had “Come from Head Office” I reluctantly accepted this as I under stand the need to reposition your proposition in a quiet time of year for car sales, pre Christmas
What I now find (Sunday Times May 8th 2005 section 2 page 6) is that you are offering “Free Prodrive Performance Pack” with all new cars registered before July 31st.
My immediate concern about this proposition is: As my car does not have PPP fitted this has the effect of reducing the future value of my car by around 10% at the moment this percentage will only rise as time goes on.
My second concern is that you have alienated any owners like myself who have purchased a vehicle and not had “PPP” fitted
Having looked at IMGroup website:
http://suntimes.subaru.co.uk/IMG/WWW/imgroup_co_uk.nsf/LiveByRef/PWIS-5J7JD3?OpenDocument
I read with interest your Chairman statement
”Today I.M. Group employs some 300 people, all working to build long-term relationships with business partners and customers, to see growth accelerating in the new millennium.”
I would like you to consider my position and to do all you can to prove your commitment to your Chairman’s vision. I would like you to make a dramatic gesture and make arrangements so that you are able to provide me with a “PPP” fitted to my vehicle, the cost of this to your group will be minimal compared to your overall marketing budget for this campaign, the value however would be incalculable.
I could not be happier at the thought of remaining a loyal and “evangelical” Subaru customer. You are providing “World Class” products I am sure you can add “World Class“ customer service to this, and reaffirm my belief in your commitment to building a long-term relationship with this customer, and prove why your company has wonmany UK Manufacturers' Gold Customer Satisfaction Awards.
Sincerely,
Peter Bond

I can fully sympathise with Dirty Bus because I was also shafted by Subaru regarding the free PPP offer.
I think that it all boils down to a little bit of harshness on the old customer care.
Being loyal to Subaru and forking out best part of 4 or 5 grand to them every year for the use of one of their vehicles (depreciation factor) is just Dandy. If they look after the customer, then the customer will want to stick with them.
Afterall, It is no use selling a good product if you are going to be complete ******** and poke the customers in the eye.
Subaru do facelifts and model changes quicker than any other manufacturer on the planet!
I feel that this is a pretty crappy way to conduct their marketing. I know they are constantly making improvements to compete in the market, but I think that it is all sugar coated gimicky stuff that we can do without for at least every 2 years.
I suppose if they stopped making a backside of the way the cars look, that may help too.
Oh, and I cannot remember the last time I paid nearly 30 grand for a sofa, or the weekly shopping.
I think if I did, I would be DFS and Tesco's new best friend.

What are some people sniffing. I would of thought that it would of been obvious to all, when the free servicing deal ran out, something would take its place. IM are no different to any other manufacturer with special offers. All of these have to have a start and end date and if they give an hours notice before its release, so what. Isnt this a case of people not using their noddy before placing an order? Citroen have more special, VAT deals etc all the time, so do many others.
If I was to level something at IM's marketing it would be the last two special editions. The WR1 with the right spec, but the worst colour an Impreza has ever been seen in and now the 300 with a nice colour let down by a poor spec/value for money.
As others have said, when the PPP offer runs out there will probably be something even better to shift the old stock. Its the basic of sales and marketing that seem to be missed by some on here. If I told all my customers what I was going to offer in a month, no one would buy today. Not good for cash flow or salespersons commision.
