Have to agree with you there... I have had a blast in a scoob and was expecting a allot more from it.. Didn’t live up to my expectations

<<Same with the Intergrale EVO2 - quite a fancied car for me but the dash looks pants - nice seats though.>>

You'd rule out the greatest drivers' car of all time just because of the look of the dash?! You'll never know what you are missing :-)

Rob

PS You want an Evo1 in any case, with the Real Man's turbo...

Trust me, I'm no stranger to crappy dash boards having owned 3 205GTIs in various states of tune/dis-repair/abused (delete as appropriate) its just if I'm spending a fair whack of cash on a car, I like everything just so. Never driven either so I'd probably be convinced otherwise after a test but although not brillant or well built, I do like the reasonably modern look of the Impreza dash.

I have been ruling out the EVO1 becuase it doesn't have the posh alcantara wing backed seats. Don't know much about the differences between the two though.

The STi I drove was a big disappointment. Soggy steering, relatively little driver feedback and not as fast as I expected. I'll stick with my 14 year old Italian rustbucket thanks.

Anyone, with a sensible input.I appreciate the escort is a good car, but has it's week spots as does the STI and i'm sure the AUDI. Can we keep this from turning into a circus, as i need some serious input for my bro. Thanks.

Right.

If you want one to match or better an STi - get a large turbo one.
Small turbo versions are limited to max 280-290bhp on the EECIV ecu.
All Esc Cos's were manufactured in Germany, so don't suffer rust problems like other Cossies did, but of course if maintained properly, but like any car that isn't looked after inc an STi you can get rust.
An Esc Cos will hold it's price better than an STi.
Mods are cheaper to do on an Esc Cos for big power.
Handling doesn't change from 70mph to 150mph+ it remains positive and the same, unlike a lot of Scoobs that go light on the steering over a ton.
Avoid Motorsport ones (they are homologation ones) can be identified by having no sunroof or full electrics.

History of Esc Cos can be found HERE

Would you recommend J28, i have seen them on the trader. Also what sort of mpg do you get out of one. I ask this as he does a fair bit of motorway driving.

i have an sti type R(standard) and my brother in law has an escort cossie(330 conversion) that i borrow quite often, to be honest there is nothing in it in the twisties, the cossie is a very good handling car with a few handling updates.

both fantastic drivers cars in there own right and deserve praise for the fun you can have driving them

PMSL at the dash comments, think you are missing the point of these cars

From hearsay on the Ford bbs, I wouldn't go there for one, have heard lots of people having had wasted journies.

It all depends on how you drive it and what bhp you have. Max I get from mine is about 19mpg but it is 370bhp/350lbs.ft and running 28psi boost. I got more mpg when I didn't have that much power. Also a lot depends on how and who it's mapped by. Motorway driving was the 19mpg I based mine on as long as not using boost too much.

On track I am lucky if I get 7mpg
