Are you going to the NBO? Never had starting probs with mine, other than something draining the battery, so I just keep it on a battery conditioner now until I can get sorted what is draining it, think it's a prob with the alarm.

I heard the trans loss on the escort cossie was very high. 40% i dont know if it true. But i would choose the Escort cossie they really do do it for me, but when i use my head i think sti. Both good cars. Nice choice to have though.

Ignore what I said about percentages above.... 25% is the norm apparently....

yeah i am going to the NBO, will look into the RS show to see if i can get a look at your motor
the cold start problem with the loom plug is a quite common one, its the plugs that sit under the coil on the big turbo models.

4wd trans loss is higher on the cossie than scoobs evo's i think is was ma developments where i heard this from but i may be wrong. Still a good car. Its a tough one though.

had a mate want a escort cossie for about 10 years,basically were his dream car hes had xr2`s 3`s, 2 series 1 rs turbos a 3door cossie(concours) and eventually earlier this year got his eccy coz.........had it about 3months and sold it, coz driving it just didnt thrill him the way the 3door rwd did,really regrets selling the 3door now

i think if he`d have had a 500 even tho theyre good money for the right one he`d have been well happy and not been bothered about anything else-996 he wants is a turbo 4 cost approx 40-45k hes only a valeter!!!! tho hes got 15 from the cossie and another 5k saved, still gonna be about 18mths before he gets one tho (his girlfriend offered to move bk home giving up her rented house and give him 700 a month towards it lol top bird lol mad tho!!!)

nah he knows hes mad on cars but you gotta be real-i said exactly the same as you!!! told me yer thats ok till we split up and she wants money bk and the porkers gotta go lol so he`d sooner buy it on his own and have less hassles if relationship goes a little pete tongue coz once he`s got one i cant see him spendin much time with her pmsl.

owned a catalunya for a few months ... got pulled too many times .. wasn't really that impressed with it ... got too much unwanted attention at the time .. would go for a mitsu evo 4 or 5 if i had to swap cars again ...

Those two cossies are beautiful!, Would have to be the Escort for me!
Theres one for sale i've seen around which has only covered delivery miles, in white, and 1996 plate, the dealer i believe wanted £28,995 last time i looked! but thats a rare case.
The thing which would tempt me would be the superchips 110HP+ Upgrade! 330HP!, however theres quite a few good Rs turbo powered look-a-likes around.....

From someone that has owned 2 of these before along with 3 Scoobs.....
Not sure what stage 3 Cossie Escort would beat a Scooby Classic STi I must admit? The newage I suspect would be a different story.
When I had both of mine I always struggled against classic STi's (both running stage 3 conversions).... they came on boost earlier and would just leave the Escort standing tbh. Admittedly I never tested my Cossie against other STi's when I had a more *to the bone* map done, which peaked at 1.9bar and held 1.6-1.7 on stock internals, turbo and compression...... it certainly motored (but this is not the normal stage 3 conversion).
Don't get me wrong I love the Escorts. In fact when I had my 1st one and flogged it I bought a classic JDM WRX Scoob..... hated the handling and went back to another Escort, which in my opinion was much more sure footed. The JDM WRX was way to **** end happy for my liking.
As regards to my present STi....... I dont think there are many Escorts that would keep up with it (unless we are talking about 400+ ones..... but then again I will be able to real them in pretty soon)!
Both awesome bits of kit and the Escort is one of my fave cars.
