There was a thread on this subject a few years ago that I've been trying to find...does anyone have a link to it?

this moonlanding hoax thing always cracks me up...the conspiracy theorists to my knowledge have never denied that there were missions to the moon, and considering how easy it actually is to get there, land and get back, i dont understand why its so hard to believe they actually did it...!

Would one of the conspiracy theorists care to explain the lunar reflectors left on the moon to calculate distances by laser? Which anyone with suitable equipment can find and use?

All the science totally destroys any idea that it was a hoax. Of course they went. However, what destroys the idea even more, for the common man who is thick as two short planks and thinks that the Sun is science, is the politics of the day.
All this happened at the height of the Cold War when Russia was watching the USA like a hawk. The Russians had lots of firsts in terms of space and the Americans were determined to go one better.
Do you really believe that if there had been the slightest doubt that the Americans got to the moon that the Russians would have kept quiet about it? The fact is that the Russians were watching them all the way, there may even have been Russian spies working on the project just to keep an eye on things, and one small mistake and the Russians would have lept on it.
So, the absolute best proof to the nutters that the Americans did go is that the Russians said they did.

Of course there is no actual video evidence of America being discovered, and I am a bit worried that the wheel being discovered isn't readily available on CD.As for Humphry Davy, Newton etc...not even a greatest hits compilation
It follows obviously that they are hoaxes....hoaxes I tell you!!!!!!
It's just a conspiracy....As for Galileo suprised he wasn't burnt as a witch.....I've seen witches on telly...Sabrina the teenage witch...a quality documentary
Education Education Education that's what we need....tough on education and tough on the causes of education......err,,,,,,was that alright Tony.....

So guys...What was the thing about the massive radiation within the Van Allen(sp) belt?
Thought to get to the moon, you had to go through this, but the massive radiation doses would kill the astronauts?
Do you not have to travel through it or are the doses of radiation not very high?
Apparently no material or substance could deflect the doses mentioned?

Apparently even Van Allen discredits this theory. The apollo lunar flights were only in the edge of the belts for a short time. To get a lethal dosage would require a much longer exposure.

As said the Van Allen Belts are donut shaped and the path of the mission was designed to just touch the inner, more intense, one. They spent more time in the outer one but it is less intense in terms of radiation and the space capsule provided considerable protection from the radiation in that area.
On the whole they got the equivalent of about 3 years worth (on earth at sea level) of radiation on their trip.
Had there of been a solar flare of the sort that gives us the Northern Lights then they would indeed have had big problems and it is likely they would have died so the trip was not without risk by a long way. They knew this but were brave enough to strap themselves to a firework and launch themselves towards a potentially fatal solar flare. Mean time some ***** who spends his day sitting in front of his computer dreams up some story that they didn't do any of it! Maybe they should give him a shot at being strapped to the next rocket.

Risks or no risks, I'd volunteer like a shot to have done what the likes of messers Armstrong, Aldrin, Collins, Lovell, etc did back then, or in more recent times, any of the shuttle crews have done.

Well I've been lucky enough to meet a moon walker too - like the others here he didn't seem like a liar to me.
Also been lucky enough to be in Florida when a Shuttle launch was on - Anyone wishing to see man's progress since 1969 should get down there for the next one.
Hoax my **** - saddo web-freaks with nothing better to do than rubbish man's achievements deserve to have no friends

How did they manage to place the american flag on the moon if it was a hoax ?
Or was the second trip to the moon a hoax as well ?

CAPE CANAVAREL-- NASA spokesman Brian Kirk announced Monday that NASA is scheduled to attempt the world's first moon landing in the year 2006.
![](http://www.thetoque.com/010717/pics/nasa.jpg)
"We're going to the moon for real this time," said Kirk. "There will be no sound stages or doubled-up footage. We really are going to go to the moon."
After Kirk confirmed that NASA's 1969 moon landing was a fake, he made no apologies on their behalf for misleading the public.
"We embellished the first moon landing at the height of the Cold War and we had absolutely no moral qualms about doing it," stated Krik. "We gave America an edge in the 'world view' with our moon landing. We believe that it was a fantastic piece of [public relations] for America, Americans, and capitalism--when we needed it most."
Kirk conceded that there was one regret about the 1969 moon landing facade. NASA's only disappointment about the faked moon landing was in the gross underestimation of the American public.
"I really think that we should have done a better job in faking the first moon landing. When we look back, it's really kind of embarrassing how poor a job was done in 1969. We didn't draw the star constellations correctly in the background; we simply doubled the footage in slow motion and thought that everyone would believe that everything was exactly half as slow on the moon's surface; we tried to make the public believe that we would spend 30 billion dollars to send a couple of astronauts to the moon to hit a bucket of golf ***** and drive around in a lunar dune buggy. And, we used the exact camera angles that were used in the 1968 film, 2001: A Space Odyssey."
"I'm sure half of the people watching our historic 'live' broadcast of the 'first man on the moon' were having feelings of déjà vu," added Kirk. "It was just ridiculous."
"After the 1969 moon landing, NASA was questioned and mocked by astronomers and physicists--even slapped in the face by Hollywood with the movie Capricorn One," said Kirk. "We promise that this is not going to happen again. We regret and apologize for our poor job of portraying the 1969 'moon landing' and we plan to make it up to the public by going there 'for real' this time."
"We are fully prepared to really go to the moon in 2006 and do intensive geological and atmospheric testing," said Kirk. "We want to know everything about the moon's mineral make-up and its structure."
"And we're going to leave the golf clubs at home," Kirk quipped

That's all well and good, except in Capricorn One the astronauts were killed (except the one that got away) to keep the secret. How come Armstrong et al have been allowed to live when they could blow it wide open at a whim?

All *i* would say, is that i wouldn't put my last penny on it until there's been clear, unequivocal proof that the debris from the Apollo missions really *is* on the moon.

I've had many arguments with my girlfriends dad who is completely convinced the whole thing was a hoax.
NO NO NO NO the hoax thing is complete rubbish. Of course they did it. If it was a hoax why not just do it once say it was far too dangerous and risky and say no more about it. Why keep doing it even after the public lost interest.
Its in the same hoax claims bin as the Titanic being the banged up sister ship/insurance fiddle, the twin towers being some sort of crazy american/east asian idea and the world being run by little green men.
The human population just makes this stuff up becuase its bored with the world as it is.

Apart from the fact that all of the reasons they say they didn't go have been proved utter tosh, there simply is no way that a project of that size could have been faked and then no whistle blowers!
Keeping a conspiracy quite requires the minimum amount of people, not hundreds of thousands!

Maybe the rocket that everyone was watching from earth just hung around in the atmosphere for a few days, then came back. Also I bet no-one used their telescopes that day either
