The windscreens on classics are as thick as paper, mine has 4 or 5 stone chips, one is size of 10 p. The build quality especially on classics is **** poor.

Want to know why? ............because the Subaru paint scratched too easily when he washed it! and his dealer was not prepared to checkout the paint quality on his car.

His dealer said "You get the paint checked out by a 3rd party, and if there's a problem we'll refund the money, and sort your car out". Excellent Subaru customer service again and I just hope the Mitsi paintwork is better.

Anyway.... I'd have an FQ330 tomorrow if I could afford to run it.

J.

PS. You don't have to tell me the Subaru paintwork is soft.... I've owned a DBM MY99, which was like putty

Learn to change the engine oil every 4500 miles and you can skip that service. Thats the main reason for the 4500 service.

To be honest, I think the Evo is a better drivers car, not that I am Jenson Button The build quality is also better and the steering response and feel is simply amazing. It cost about the same to run as the Impreza's generally and the 4,500 / 6 month service is OPTIONAL - look at the service book on one.

Some parts can be expensive, like if the AYC packs up, but it's the same story with every car - M3 + VANOS for example.

I am thinking of getting another Evo VI or Honda Integra Type-R DC5. I'm leaning more toward the honda because they'll be cheaper to run and aren't as nickable. The Evo is very brutal looking and gets you lots of attention. I'm not sure I want that to be honest, especially with the recent spate of thefts of Evo's and Impreza's.

If you haven't driven or owned one, I suggest you do, you'll be pleasantly surprised and think 'wow, why didn't I get one before?'.

Actually it's the AYC fluid that needs changing at 4500 as well as the oil, it is most impotant for the car to handle properly, this fluid change is crucial. Also if you do this service ie 4500 yourself and the car has a three year warranty this will now be invalid.

My Dad collected his EVO 8 MR FQ340 on Wednesday, all I can say is WOW!

Previous to the Evo he had a E46 BMW M3 and before that a Impreza Sti WR1

WR1 - 4/5

M3 - 4.5/5

FQ340 - 5/5

SUBARU WAS A GOOD CAR WITH EXTREME PERFORMANCE BUT ITS A LITTLE BOYRACER -ISH WITH THE MASSIVE BONNET VENT AND EYE CATCHING COLOUR!

CANT FAULT THE BUILD QUALITY OF THE M3, SUPERB ENGINE THAT KEEPS PULLING AND PULLING ALSO THE EXHAUST NOTE WHEN BOOTED IS JUST SECOND TO NONE, ONLY PROBLEMS IT ITS NOT AS FUN TO DRIVE AS SCOOB & EVO!

EVO IS FANTASTIC, VERY VERY FAST. NOT TOO DIFFERENT FROM WR1 IN TERMS OF PERFORMANCE BUT IT LOOKS A BIT MORE MODEST, ALSO THEY ARE NOT AS COMMON AS SCOOB, FOR GRIN FACTOR IT GETS 10/10 ALSO RIDE IS BETTER THAT WR1.

I KNOW SOME OF YOU MAY NOT AGREE WITH ME BUT ITS MY HONEST OPINION AND WE ARE NOT ALL THE SAME.

Wot a load of BO$$OCKS. Obviously you've never driven an Evo, and if you have you've never driven it to the limit.

Scoobs are the most forgiving car I've driven.

With these 2 quotes you have successfully proven you know nothing at all about Evo's...

The main point of the 4.5k service is purely the AYC fluid (with is about £80 from a Mitsi dealer). The rest of the engine is officially every 9k.

As for the other statement, beleive what you want, it isn't true, just don't peddle it to everyone else.

Have you even driven an Evo? Because it sure as hell sounds like you haven't.

I have owned 2 wrx,s and an sti8 ppp and prodrive springs and i loved it, then one day i was driving by a mits garage and thought i would have a test drive in an 340mr, 1 hour later i had signed on the dotted line and lost sheds load on the sti8, and let me tell you i have never ever regreted it. It probably works out about £150 a year for the extra service, its about the same on fuel, the insurance works out to be £120 a year CHEAPER so there is nothing in it. The brakes are better the steering better paint work is not chipping of in big chunks, by the time you add ppp, springs, wheels theres nothing in it, it is hard core and i love it, you can loose it just the same as any car pushed to the limit and you dont get prats keep comming up behind you to keep racing , but i do miss that exhaust tone.

Wink

Had Sti 2, tweaked to 320 bhp....blew up a few times but v quick
Then New Age WRX 5 5 door before ppp available - composed but slow
Then Seat Leon Cupra VT20 -better than you would think though no Scooby
Then STI Bugeye type UK + PPP - great car super sensitive to tyre type/condition slightly lardy IMHO
Then Evo 8 MR FQ340 very focused and great turn in, not much quicker than my STI - good seats but bin liner dreary interior brakes not as good as STI
Warped after medium use.

Not a lot to choose between them IMHO

Now E46 M3 Cab - I know, why? - no drop roof scoobies or mitsis available for the summer.

Next Not sure, tried a 911 (996) C4S slightly underwhelmed by it to be honest
quick but not that much quicker than above and flipping expensive for what it is. Has to be facelift as engines can be a bit fragile on early ones. Have to see!
