I had some prat in a brick wagon come round a corner the other day wide and nearly run into me (he had to stop pretty fast) and then had the audacity to start calling me names, I simply called him a lorry driving peasant, which REALLY pissed him off and then drove off with my middle finger high and proud whilst I could see his cab shaking with rage hahaha

Nothing against lorry drivers, my dad is one.

Going through the M1 roadworks near Sheffield the other week, we had an artic trying to mate with my girlfriends Focus. You couldn't see his number plate he was that close but he sat there in the middle lane flashing and hooting. We were doing 50 (in a 50 limit) with cars in front and cars on the inside lane so didn't really have anywhere to go.

Towards the end of the roadworks he started to undertake so as we accelerated back up to 70, I smiled, waved and blew him a kiss

my guess is its confidence, these guys are on the road for hours on end. lots longer than some of us care to imagine and after that much time ont he road they'd feel confident enough to tailgate anything....

Having been in an Artic when it hits a car (passengers seat), most truck drivers don't have too much to worry about if the car brakes and they don't anyway. Truck, smashed headlight, car - totalled. It wasn't nice.

Sweeping generalisation I know (I'm hungover) but the worst examples of wagon driving I've seen are normally foreign drivers.

I was driving a (full) petrol tanker on the M6 northbound just by the M54 junction yesterday morning when johnny foreigner overtaking me decides that he actually wants the M54 and basically forced me off the road so he can get there. He then gives sticks his arm out of the window and flicks me the bird. Disaster narrowly avoided.

Coming back (tanker empty thank Christ) come to join the M6 at Cannock, Italian truck in lane 1 categorically refusing to pull over to let me in despite the motorway being practically empty. Swerves onto the slip road while drinking can of Coke/Stella and forces me to slam on the anchors and dive on the hard shoulder to avoid a collision. I followed him all the way to the M5 watching him nearly cause 4 accidents, drive in lane 3 narrowly avoiding a scoob, up the hard shoulder to avoid the queue and then change his mind at the last second and jump from lane 1 of the M5 link to lane 2 of the M6 with about the length of a tractor unit to spare!

In my full time job I work on the motorway ( ) and lots of the prangs involve lorries being driven by johnny foreigner who hasn't looked before he's moved or driven up the **** of someone because he's been driving for about 14 days without a break.

I know I've lost count of the close shaves I've had with them.

I totally agree on that one, my husband is in the army and if you have been on a weeks exercise with hardly any sleep to begin with and then you have to drive in a convoy of vehicles where noone has had much sleep then its understandable for them to be pushing on or up someones *** in a car etc,if you want to get home without falling asleep in something that would take out alot of people and vehicles in seconds, I know someone who also lost control coz of lack of sleep and went off the road, luckily he went in to a field on his left but if he had went to the right, well it's awful to think what could have happened.

As for HGV drivers, my Dad was a lorry driver , he would have agreed with what you lot have said, as he felt the same, he must have been one of the very few who was as sensible while driving a lorry as if he were in a car, that he actually thought about others on the roads, alot of lorry drivers are only thinking about getting home dead on time and that their time doesn't run out thats why they are pushing cars along the motorways, we get it alot here aswell even from RB at Boroughbridge and thats who my Dad worked for and there is still alot there who only think that they are the only ones on the road, remember aswell uphill is bad for them though as if they lose the power it takes ages to get it back to push their weight uphill, and if they have to stop it takes a while to build your pace back up espec if you have weight on the back so alot of them push on so they are less likely to have to be stopped or held up as it's going to be a bugger getting their speed back, along with the time they are losing. Some are daft buggers but alot of them are sensible and just doing a job like everyone else.

For all those who cant drive a lorry I suggest you spend a day sitting in the cab with an HGV driver for a day or two and I know you will be anmazed at how bad the standrds of car drivers are compared to truck drivers.

I hate lorry drivers nearly as much as arrogant, "we own the road", "highway code doesn't apply to us" taxi drivers.
