Bob, thats what I used to think but ive looked at numbers of dyno plots and the only time ive seen drop off before VTEC was on one MY00 S2000. My dyno plot doesnt show a drop before VTEC and the fuelling doesnt lean just before either.
On the ITR, there's a chap called Tara on the Revoutions Forum. I went out in his which had headers, decat, zorst, ITG induction kit, TB and a Unichip by Millway and it was fookin quick! had some handling tweals too and was significantly better than a scoob in the dry. Dont go too low on the VTEC though

I don't see the point of lowering vtec introduction on an S2000. Its very easy to keep it in vtec so the only point in doing it is if you are absolutely lazy and don't want to drop gears - if thats the case by a turbo car....durrrrr!
I'd love to thicken up the power when in vtec. The peak of 240bhp is fine but it needs to make closer to that for longer. This incidently is why Neil's clio cup is fractionally faster than my S2000. When he dyno'd it he peaked at something like 192bhp* but made something stupid like 185bhp for close on 2000rpm just prior to the peak. On the road that is what makes the difference.
* If you look at the p/w/r based on the peaks then the S2000 (186 vs 190 per ton) is more beefy but on the road its not.

Im exploring Nitrous and blowers at the mo Kenny I think the blower may be overkill but would be mentally quick! I find it quick most of the time, but Id like to have a bunch of power on tap when required (ie some chav in an old WRX on a dual carriageway ) so I think NOS might be a laugh if set up right!

It does seem to be the case that you shut up and put up or alternatively spunk several grand on something that will make it markedly quicker. I'd be surprised if there was many /any full weight S2000's running 0-100 in 12-13s for example. It's either the standard 14.5s or <10 Pitty really as I feel all the S needs is the grunt to lay down 100mph from rest in 12-13s which would make it almost as fast as the M3, etc.

But it does cause markedly increased wear on the engine does it not? And also it isn't permanent which would be quite bugging? What sort of gain would you be looking for from nitrous?

Ben's right, if you get a good setup it can be reliable and effective. I like the idea of it, as 90% of the time the car is quick enough to keep up with most stuff - but it would be great if you needed some extra beef if you got caught in a straight line battle You can trigger it on WOT or via on off switch and also decide the duration of the shot etc... Personally I'd like to have some aircraft style switch with danger written on it
As a rule, 100bhp show will really give you 50bhp due to the nature of the reaction when combusting.
Honda's and NOS seem to be a popular combination. prob the strong engine, combined with the need to have it
