Can someone tell me HOW the id cards will stop terrorism?

its just to make more money out of us and find out were we are, were like cattle to them someone to make money out of , a money making machine, more tax;s and soon miles tax's and on and on and on
if we dont put a stop to this soon or have a war with the goverment, we will be like slaves on an invisible chain

When a Government wants to introduce any legislation I always ask myself, now if the party in Government was in opposition, what would be their view?
Can you imagine Charles Clarke's reaction if it was a Conservative Government proposing this?
This is a man who was President of the NUS and marched on many campaigns of a left wing nature.
But, hey, he's Establishment now and coining it.

ID cards will not stop terrorism, it's all a crock of crap.
It's just another excuse to rip us off, why should we have to pay over £90 to prove we are British FFS, not forgetting how they reckon they will hold personal details such as Bank Details, Medical Records etc............. I mean the next thing that will happen is people will get mugged for their ID cards and the yobs will hack/clone the card and use your every dam detail!!

I think you could argue that in many cases, ID cards might actually aid a terrorist. Given the increase in Identity theft - which is a huge problem and getting worse. There are already many documented cases of house break ins being specifically used to collect personal information, such as bank cards, NI numbers, driving licences etc - all the things you would need to create a 'fake' person. Imagine an ID card that holds all your personal details....
Even if that information was encrypted, it is not impossible to get hold of it (unless they are using military strength encryption, which is highly unlikey, as most of it is still considered secret and highly sensitive). The infomation on these cards would be highly useful for the terrorist who wants to 'blend in', or obtain serivces and money etc.
The whole idea is deeply flawed, ill thought-out and ridiculously expensive.
