Is this technically "Sales of Goods Act"

One thing you may need to watch out for ( according to elepants, and I assume others are the same ) - any mods you declare on a car will up the premium, but the mods themselves arent insured, i.e. if it gets nicked or written off, they wont pay the extra they cost.
Means if they were being funny and the V5 didnt show it as being a 300, they could deduct the value of the PPP from the car as they could class it as an extra mod, and give you less payout - or worse case, if you didnt declare it was on there because its a standard part of the car, they could say your insurance wasnt valid.

True, but if they dont recognise it as being a 300, and just have it insured as a normal WRX ? In my experience some insurance companies will do EVERYTHING they can to give a lower payout - even if they insure it as a 300, but then it gets stolen, they look at the V5 and go 'hang on, says its just a WRX on here'
Personally I'd want every bit of paper saying exactly what it was correctly so there cant be any misunderstandings or excuses should the worst happen - or when you come to sell it, having to explain to a potential buyer that it IS a 300 but not on the paperwork - going to look a bit dodgy.
Dont see why the DVLA cant change it though ? its an official car, so shouldnt be a problem.

Well well interesting info!
When I called up A-Plan I just said the name of the car: WRX 300 Impreza turbo and YES they did have it on thier system. They knew the year as it can only be a 55 reg, they asked about any mods and I said NO. I did not say it has a PPP as there in no need to do this. If they have it on their system it comes as standard with the PPP, that's all there is to it. Why run when no one is chasing you?
I diod however call them a weel later to tell them off my Prodrive sti spolier and window tints and sat nav etc....glad I did because they gave me them all for free, no charge for any of them.
I have the certificate here and it says: SUBARU IMPREZA WRX 300 SALOON.
Voila! and a Mange Tout 2 you all

i think you should all take a look at this site, read the opening page then do a search on the car, the car what you you have bought, in the eyes of the insurance company does not exist.
You get a similar situation with the EVO's TME that Mitsi brought a select few of, they exist because you have one, but it was never a proper UK car, the evo's still are the same way, well every evo up to the 8 excluding the VIII 260.

i think the moral of the story is go with A-Plan, or greenlight, heard so much "good ****" about them, and one of them will be getting my business come next june!
same goes with WRX300, some will be aware of it, other will just say "subaru, impreza you say... £5000 with a £9000 excess"

i dont think anyone is trying to say that the UK300 or WRX300 isnt an official model.
All models have to be submitted for a type approval, looks to me that this one hasnt...
Another popint to which i dont know the answer to hear but...
Although the PPP was included in the cars spec list, was the PPP fitted at factory or was it a retro fitted item???

MTR, your car was a production car, run of 500
The WR1 and UK300 were pre registered cars and modified after registration, this is how they get around those little laws but they shouldnt be classed on the V5 as a WRX UK300 or a WR1 as they are not production cars and the vin plate will show that when it is checked against the factory batch, the WR1 is infact a WRX STi Solberg limited edition, the UK300 is a WRX.

Yes, mine is a 55 reg. I know it had been sitting somewhere for a few months.
Thanks again.

not sure where that leaves you insurance-wise i suppose it is down to the insurance company as to what they have on their list
