You dont want to run more than about 1.2 bar peak, a remap would be better though.
FWIW when I put my scooby back to standard I still ran it with the dawes for a while and generally ran it at around 1-1.1 bar.

I have a 1996 uk wagon, it was peaking at 13psi as standard, fitted a dawes device and fuel cut defender so it now runs 17psi,makes a huge difference that few extra pounds! Cars also fully de-cated and running uprated fuel pump and fsi fuel regulator, made 315bhp at flywheel at an RR Day this year,been running this boost for over a year with no problems...so far!
