It's good for clearing the memory by shutting down apps when you have finished using them. I also use the file manager as it shows hidden files as well. lots of other things as well but those two are the main handy features.

I've been given masses of apps by a mate, but no manuals of course, and I haven't a clue where to start. I'm certainly not going to install six different calendars and use each for a week to see which I prefer, for example.
I agree. Check that site i linked to before and read the features and reviews. That way you can see what would be of use to you.

Trouble is, these things are getting so smart that I don't even know what to look for. All I know is the official SE manual is utter crap. My 1994 Psion manual was brilliant, explained everything, encouraged you to use it - this one just scratches the surface. I don't know if "it's" sad or I'm sad for buying such a gadget and using it to 1% of its capacity.
Just depends on what you want to do or know you can do.... I know what you mean though. I have stuff on mine that I may use once in a blue moon etc. Worldmate for example. Never really use it but when I was abroad this year I found it really handy.

Phone currently types only digits for SMS using numberpad, it used to type letters like most text phones, no idea how it changed or where to go to change it back again. Holding the *key down doesn't do anything. Another niggle (still on thread topic!!) is that to send a message to my wife I have open a new message, select contacts (if I don't know the number), scroll down the contacts screen to find her name (even after jumping to jkl), select which phone (I have her UK number there too), and then start with the message. Shouldn't there be a "nickname" system like with email where I can just type "wife" or "*1" or summat? As it is, I keep an old message of hers in my inbox and just hit "reply", it's way quicker.
just 'tap' the * key to change between caps, letters, numbers etc. hold it down to turn on or off T9.

Yeah that's the way I do it as well. doesn't bother me but when you put it like that there are a fair few actions.
