Driving at the speed on an empty motorway with no one else in the car and no one else on the road is fine.

That way, if you lose it, you die and your scooby dies! Perhaps you can be buried in the same grave together!

I bought my scooby because of its 4wd, ace handling and brilliant accelleration not for the fact that it'll do 140-150mph. I have had it up to a hundred but no more (on the motorway) as after that I start to get paranoid about getting pulled by the coppers. I am only 24 and cannot afford to get points on my license as insurance is bad enough as it is.

yes perhaps 150mph for a breif moment is excessive on public roads but on a empty mtorway where there are no cars knocking about is safe in my eyes.

people that are saying thats rediculous and that driving fast is not about going in a straight line are worse in my eyes. fast road driving out in the country on twisty roads is more dangerous, who's to say theres not going to be a pedestrian or a cyclist in the middle of the road round the corner you're doing 80 round? however dont get me wrong i love a back road thrash also.

anyone who buys a scooby buys one because of its pedigree, handling ect.
Whats the point in buying a scoob if you are never going to take advantage of it once in a while.

Surely people that daily speed in built up area are more of a risk to themselves and other people than one guy on his own in his scoob nipping on an empty motorway.

If it was a public road then irrespective of conditions you are an absolute chuffin d1ckhead of the highest order.
Its the "conditions" you havent scoped before you engaged on the "thrust 2 impression" were debris / diesel etc on the road, the chavvy kids dropping small stones off a bridge further up the road etc which at that speed would kill you (and hopefully only you) dead dead dead...
Of course there is the small matter that its illegal - and again if you were on a public motorway where speed limits apply you should have been banned and heavily fined - possibly jailed...
I've owned 2 scoobs over 3 years now and neither has ever gone over 110. My 02WRX which I have had now for 3 months hasnt been up to 100. A Nissan Micra could also do 100 indeed - but it wouldnt get there as quickly, be as much fun on country lanes or satisfy my passion for Imprezas that I've had for 10 years now...
Bragging 157 just makes you a total n0b IMO...
no good spouting off aswell m8, 70 mph is the limit not 110mph as you stated

In accordance to someone else comment, I also bought the car for the handling capabilities and not the top speed, although it is a bonus.

From the political stand point this exercise was performed on and I quoted 'a private motorway' so no fear anyone else was at risk here. Would never attempt this with any passengers.

PS. is that a CEL present on the dash of the dude's display showing 160?

I'm not going to get involved in the speed debate, as its been done to death and I won't add anything original. What I would say is that top speed just isn't that exciting, from a driving standpoint, it's more about the transgression from the rules etc and uncertainity about whether you'll get caught. I don't know about the rest of you, but my insurance is bad enough as it is, so there is no way I'd want to make it worse by risking a ban from V-maxing it down a M-way.

It's the acceleration, deceleration and cornering forces that the "thrill of driving" a performance car is all about IMHO. That's why I got the scooby. That, and the noise!!! :-)

has anyone been to the classic car show they hold at birmingham. And paid money ot the sporting bears foundation to have a ride in some of the exotica. I have and let me tell you he was not hanging around. At one point he was up to just over 140 mph. Mind you it was a 7ltr V8 DWR cobra with 560Bhp. God it was quick. The police just sort of turned a blind eye as long as no problems were caused. It was very good.

We have a Volvo V70 D5 aswell as a 2002 WRX which gets used 'properly' actually. The Volvo has seen higher speeds than the scoob aswell!!

Yes, everyone who's in love with top speeds on public roads, go out, have an accident and do the gene-pool a favour.
