Billet alloy bits on a sprint car; rich kids from the South...

The Group n part looks good, especially if a reasonable $$.

Fuzz, mine only does it in one fast, hard braking with a 4th to 3rd to 2nd (or 4th to 2nd if I'm in the mood) and turn left, all happening at the same time (Fallow bend, Loton Park hill climb), perfect else where. Was worse with the RA box in the car.

Drive round is slowish and very posative movement through the gate.

Still up for a GB on the Group N.

Graham.

"Rich kids from the South" , I'll have you know I was born up north and I'm proud of it. "Rich", I prefer good at concealing from the wife. I work in the NHS so I'm never going to be rich.

I must learn the concealing bit better.
Didn't mean to offend either (if you were)

As far as the G/box mount is concernrd you do not need to buy an uprated.
Disconnect the alternator and weld in a bit of 10mm diameter bar between the two plates, separated by the rubber mount.
Very cheap and very effective mod.

Is that 'miss downchanges' as in it doesn't go into gear to start with or it selects OK but is in neutral when you get back on the power?

goes in a gear.... just not the one I was looking for.

Seemed to have been ok today on a little timed sprint in the country.

I'll also recommend hardcore tuning.
I had the g/box mount and pitch rod delivered for £85 in total

This is turning into a problem page for Sprinters / Hillclimbers, I do a bit in my RA and have a noise which is worse than the wife on a bad day, only comes when I lift off the throttle sounds like something is banging about somewhere underneath. These mounts could be worth having. If someone is willing to do a group buy for group A I would be interested. I have found a couple of parts on www.rallispec.com and have a mate in New York, will see if he is coming over sometime.

Realised I've missed a few posts whilst away for a couple of days.

Harvey's solution sounds a very good option, I'm up for giving that a try and report bacK> I'm at Goodwood next Monday but I doubt it'll be done before then (have just found a set of tyres so need to collect and get fitted). Also Goodwood doesn't have the corners to provoke the gear problem (I hope).

Thanks for your post Andrew, the prices at rallispec look very good if shipping/duty can be 'reduced'. If your friend is likely to be coming over before too long, maybe you could handle the group buy?

I think you will find the exhaust catches on the prop centre bearing carrier. i have just 4mm clearance at best no matter how I set my system. Only happened when i fitted the TD05 20g (casting machined slightly different to stock turbo).

The noise is terrible on the overun or when you lift off from high rpm.

Another reason for the Group Buy on Group N parts.

You can buy liquid rubber from RS Components in a tin with activator. Just the job to fill-in the voids in the gearbox and engine mounts; a variety of hardnesses too. Could be a cheap quick fix, but the Broup N bits sound better.

Still up for a GB on these.

Graham.

Yikes! Three Sisters!!

Great track in the dry, and very nasty in the wet. Run there twice in the 911, oh Mother!

Really fast and very twisty, and very good fun. Long long back straight/curve from the startline which plummets down to a very tricky 110 deg right with a multi layered tyre wall...
Easy after that.

Easy to get to and great tarmac paddock. I assume this is your first time there?

Very deceptive and take car to start off. Is normally a gokart track so 2 stroke oil everywhere.

It is vivid in my memory even now.

You will have great fun after the paddock straight believe me.

Oh lordy....

Graham.

Andrew, Graham has written a book, check out Projects

Graham, if you're still looking for tyres, I picked up 4 part used Yoko Advan AO-48 tonight for £250 new price £175 ea

2 are barely scrubbed and still have mould 'pips' on the edges. The other 2 have seen a couple of laps. Dead chuffed. If you want details, drop me a PM. The guy has all sorts from road going to full slicks.

Even the Wife thinks i should fit Avon hill climb slick and get chasing that bloody EVO which has come into the Class again and is faster than I can muster.

LOL at the 'Book'.
Does that mean Flat4 has written an encylopedia?

Good price on the tyres. I only know of 2 places who sell the real hill climb tyres.

Graham,

Thanks for the advice, will try and keep it away from the tyres, I also have an Evo problem an Evo 8 MR340, though I did beat him in the wet last time out so there is hope.

Just sign-ed up for a go. If the events dont clash with the Championships i do. On of them takes in Gurston, a hill climb i've never done as yet (wife hates it) but I've always wanted to do it.
Graham: Better get serious so it doesn't hutrt too much when you all blow me into the big wheat field at the bottom of the down hill section (the scarey bit)

I have done Gurston on a "School Day", well worth the money if you haven't done it before. Start on the flat then down hill to a long sweeping left, Hold on Tight, The finish is just past a slight chicane which you think can be done flat out but the car wheel marks in the Wheat Field would suggest otherwise !!!!!

We must get a Hillclimb section on the site someday, we appear to have wandered far from the original thread, well boys and their toys Sorry Gerry have mailed my mate in N. York about the Group N Mounts
