Fiat Coupe Turbo vs 93/94 WRX
#31
I had the Fiat and have driven a few Impreza's, get the Impreza mate you wont be dissapointed, dissapointment comes as standard with aging Turbo Fiats.
Its like buying a recipe book,
Dont go for the one with Disaster written on it.
The Fiat was a lovely car new (WITH A WARRANTY) but its a liability as a cheap buy.

As for the electrics, cambelt, tyres, brakes all being shoddy. You have to own one to know, but chances are look after her well and properley and she'll look after you.
Are you trying to tell me that a "piece of poo" is without faults.
And I do know what I am talking about, as I test drove a Kangeroo one day, well I tried to, but the interior was soooooo boring, that I fell asleep before starting the 4 door saloon

Unfortunately that dot is big and ugly and shaped like a box. Its lucky we are so fast, so our eyes don't bleed with your ugliness.

The Fiats can be very quick cars and reliable too. A freind of mine has one and I swear hes been trying to kill it for the last 30k miles but it just wont break. We've cranked up the boost and it has a de-cat. Is easily quicker than a std UK scoob in a straight line.
Its done over 100k miles on original bits.
I just find it funny at how hard it is driven with some cheap mods and it just wont break.

Hello Folks,
I have crossed over from www.fccuk.org and currently own a 1997 20vt in rosso red! I have had my car for a year now and had no problems. Like someone said previously, they are like chalk and cheese! I personally hate the looks of the subaru, but do like the car itself! The coupe is a bit like marmite, you either love it or hate it!
Why did I buy a coupe and not a scooby?
The coupe is so much more exclusive, I will see at least 6 or 7 scoobies on my 10 mile journey to work, but will be the only coupe!
The coupe is quick, very quick and the fact that it is front wheel drive make it so more rewarding. My car is standard apart from a RamAir cone induction kit and has been rolloing roaded at PTS luton at 249bhp with 249 squid of torque and to get a decent 4 wheel drift with only front wheel drive is a feeling not to be underestimated!
Put a standard scooby against a standard coupe and the coupe will be quicker. Think of the loss throught the 4 wheel drive train.
All that said the scooby is popular for a reason, it is a great handling and quick car, but in my opinion lacks the passion and excitement the coupe offers!
Nice to see some decent views here from some of the people!
Visit the fccuk website and you will get an understanding of the car, and more importantly the passion that it inspires in it's owners!
My beast before the new coloured wheels! (Now dark grey)

I havnt been in a wrx but like i said i want to buy one, hope its not a mistake!!!

Fiat Coupe turbo vs WRX
On the whole the views here are pretty balanced
The two cars are like chalk and cheese, with the WRX better made and a better handler.
For some the Coupe is a lot better looking, plus it has a strong 5 cylinder engine. These days tuning is a lot cheaper and similar to tuning a WRX, and mine with roller bearing turbo etc is kicking out near 350bhp.
Performance wise in a straight line there's not a huge lot in it, but as standard the Coupe would be superior. In a drag start and the damp the WRX would be a lot better.
I'd say give the Coupe a drive, you will either love it or hate it, neither car is better than the other, they're just different.
Joe
ps Hi Bob, sorry to hear your news

I owned a 2000 Coupe 20v Turbo Plus (modded to 270BHP) for two years and have just sold my P1, the cars are very similar in power but the P1 would EASY out handle the coupe, even though I had the suspension done on the Coupe as well
You just cant beat 4wd grip, end of story, but I loved the coop to bits and it lasted 2 years and the P1 just 1 month
So think on that one....

i forgot to mention that my friend who owned the fiat coupe 20VT did sell his car and bought a 172 sport, at the time i thought it was a total down grade but he was adament that the 172 was quicker to drive if you covered the same route with both cars..... my friend is a race engineer and works on touring cars i guess his opinion is sound...
Still gunna try/look at a wrx scooby wen i get back from holiday, just been reading a thread on the general forum and wrx's are getting a hard time by celica GT4's... whats going on, i thought they were invicible!!! lol
