i am just about to complete the second run in from a rebuild now, the first time it went was down to a big end failure during a high speed run (MY00 P1, 65000miles), but my arguement was that if it was not suppose to rev so high why give it such a high rev limit (7900). the rev limit being set well in safety for the engines capabilitys????? honda vtecs can happily rev to 8500-9000rpm day in day out. the second time, 2900miles after the rebuild, it dropped a valve at 3000rpm in 5th at 65mph dont you you just love scoobys

High speed runs, **** fuel and mafs seem to be the most likely cause IMO.
Reason why so many go pop just after they changed hands could be becuase as soon as the new owner has it he/she puts in some cheap fuel (not knowing the car needs super) and then takes it for a top speed test. The damage is either immediate or rears its head a few hundred miles down the line.
