I'm all for quadrupling fuel duty for private car owners (and reducing it for those who use it well, like public transport companies, and hauliers). The roads are far too congested. Nobody thinks twice about jumping in their cars....which means public transport will never get a look in until people feel the hit in the pockets.

Petrol is FAR cheaper in real terms than it was 2 decades ago. This is not right. Needs corrected.

Hang on - 20 years ago, petrol was £1.40 per GALLON!!(30.7 pence per litre) Now its 90 pence per LITRE!! WTF are you talking about, it's 'FAR cheaper' now!! Have you been to planet Earth recently....

Signed mate!!

Turd, you've already chosen a user name which suits you and describes your ilk perfectly. Thanks for the input though.

Some others have said "if we want to sign this futile, useless petition then why not just let us"? I for one am quite happy to see you signing it, I'm merely pointing out that by doing so, you are engaging in a futile act that as far as I can see, marks you out as naieve and quite probably extremely stupid. As long as we all understand that, I'm quite happy to let you proceed. With a little input along the way of course.

edited to add I just noticed the comments from the idiot bzz directly above this post. That's the type of mind we are dealing with here folks. What is so difficult to understand about the phrase "in real terms"?????? I'm almost gobsmacked by the sheer ignorance of some of the people that use this board. How do you get it together to breathe? Must be something going on in the brain stem 'cos it doesn't seem like there's anything else attached to it.

Always seems to me that the "supply and demand" cry is just another excuse for selfish people like DrunkenPikie to rip everyone else off.

We seem to have yet another troll on the net since PSL denies it is him under another name, shame because it would probably suit him very well.

If you don't open your mouth and say something, no-one will hear you!

And thats the point isn't it? If everyone just sits back with their cup of tea and keeps taking in the **** with a smile on their face then no-one will think there's anything wrong!

It's our opinion, and it's our right to voice it! If they ignore it then they ignore it but it's better than doing nothing at all.

Can't wait till this country gets a decent government for once.

As far as I'm aware I'm not 'ripping anyone off', I don't set taxation levels, nor do I control supply and demand on a global scale. Neither do I force minimum wage meatheads to buy gas guzzling cars then bitch when they can't afford to run them.
At least try to be factually correct, even partially would do Les.

As for making your voice heard as the guy from happy days said, do it by all means if it makes you feel better, it isn't going to change reality though.

For all the hard of thinking on the board 'reality' in this case is that a crucial, dwindling and by it's very nature non-renewable commodity is going to cost you dearly and is only going to keep getting more and more expensive. Bitching about levels of taxation isn't going to make it cheaper.

Firstly this isn't 'my thread' so troll away moron, all you are doing is lowering the tone which I'm more than happy about

Secondly at least I have a point when I say this is an entirely futile, puerile little exercise which at best will provide some short term relief for the pathetically tiny minds that conceived and contributed to it.

You really need to raise your game hedge boy, that is if you want to cross swords with the undisputed ruler of NSR. Otherwise there's really little sport in it for me. From my point of view it's a bit like swatting a fly

Bom Dia,
matthews sorry to break it to you but my name isn't and never has been alan, a simple piece of misdirection on my part. However if it pleases you to call me that then feel free.

Do you have any on topic input into the relevance of the "fuel protest" petition? I'm sure we'd all like to hear your sage words on the subject.

Good idea but this one is better:-

How about a petition to remove driving licences from 'people of reduced intelligence'? (PC phrase so as not to offend the MORONS)

I propose a simple literacy test then a 10 minute interview with someone such as myself. Followed by removal of the right to drive from 99% of the fcuktards that contribute to this board.

Sorry to break it to you, Alan, but it doesn't matter to me what your name is and I certainly don't intend on corresponding with you on a social basis. Naming you is merely a mechanism of convenience:

a) because you change username so often
b) because, like other animals, giving you a name helps me to communicate with you on a human level... it's easy to forget you are 'one of us' so to speak!

RE: Fuel protest, it seems to me your entire argument is based around whether or not signing a petition will directly result in a reduction in the price of fuel, which of course is completely off the mark because the aim is to show the government we are completely dissatisfied with the levels of taxation on fuel. If there is a small chance they will realise that taxing fuel any more heavily will lose them votes and that that may contribute to their decision process then it is worthwile in my opinion.

I have noticed that when you don't like something you are the first to complain about it, usually in the most emotive language possible, therefore I find it hypocritical of you to berate others for complaining about something that they do not like.

So I urge people to go ahead and do what they think is right, and watch Alan the gappy toothed ex-pat work himself into a state in the process!

lol@ajm he still thinks I'm the guy in the picture
As for your comments on the fuel protest I'm afraid the Government doesn't give a flying **** about the whinging of a few dissafected middle englander tory boy types. They've got another 4 yrs to **** you over, result eh?
So whinge and bitch all you like it's entirely futile.

Oh and matthews, thanks for the essay, hope it didn't take you too long

I didn't expect a comprehensive response, namely because there was none you could give.

You might think a petition is futile, just as we think your little anti-petition tirade is futile...so go forth and rant Alan!

You didn't get a comprehensive response because we've already established you don't warrant one.
In the final analysis my prediction that the 'fuel protest' is entirely futile is correct. We've already covered the reasons, tax is a minor issue here. If you can't see that (or choose not to so as to give you someting to argue about )then you are stupider than I thought.

Thanks for the attempt to boulster your previous lacklustre response, but I think we both know your reasons for contributing in this thread are as insincere as they are transparent.

With regard to giving myself something to argue about, I've got the day off tomorrow so today is effectively Friday, and I do like a bit of NARCO baiting of a Friday, so I'll give you that!

Well you have a point that I enjoy exposing the great scoobynet unwashed for the scum they are.
However I'm quite sincere in my belief that this petition is nothing but a short sighted, misguided and entirely useless exercise for reasons outlined earlier in the thread.
As for baiting I see you've (yet again) followed me onto a thread like some crazed man stalker and got own3d (yet again). Try harder next time. You really must come up with better excuses for why you'll be ducking out of this thread- "I've got the day off"- PMSL

LOL! I see you have substituted your usual premature and meaningless claims of victory with the term "own3d".... I think you might be getting a little too far into character!

The day off tomorrow was the reason for being here, not the reason for leaving, you illiterate oaf! Not that I need a reason for coming or going of course, as the rules of engagement are on my terms, as always

Anyway, thanks for the gratis entertainment Alan, you've just been used... again!

Took you a while to come up with that load of old carp, as a self professed "serious member" (which I agree you are ) by participating here you expose yourself for what you really are. A sad character, haunted by his regular beatings and slap downs by his own3r- namely me.
You still find it hard to accept the independant adjudication of your defeat in the 'other place'?
Keep trying.

D/Pikie,

Had you read my post carefully you would have realised that I said that people with the your mindset rip us all off and that I was drawing attention to the selfish attitude that you displayed so admirably to us all in the first place.

Conversely I'd suggest that owners of gas guzzling cars who cannot afford to run them are the selfish ones. Why on earth should taxation be cut in order that they can continue to use their vehicles with impunity? If you can afford it (like me ) it's a non-issue, if you can't may I suggest now is a good time to buy a bicycle?
