DONT BUY IT!

It will be out for one year - then a new model is released.. this is Subaru's attempt to flog off the remaining stock of cars... when 2007 comes no one will want it....

Buy something cheap for now and buy the 2007 model....

Default had an 06 sti for 2 weeks

I bought and 06 sti 2 weeks a go and nearly cried on the way home from Northampton. After getting out of my moded 02 sti. I felt like i had just bought a fast Mondeo. Very quiet engine note, suspension felt to soft. just didnt have the feel of my old sti, and the seats dont hold you like the older sti seats although maybe not fair to compare a standard car with a moded one

I have just spent 4k getting it something like my old scoob

19 inch rims
Harwood and scott exhaust
prodrive springs
Remap
front lip spoiler

it looks great now and sounds and goes well,,, but it still dosent handle like my bugeye did, i think i will need to upgrage the shocks,, so the list goes on.

Car cost £21250 with 3 k on the clock and £4k to upgrade the bits... If i couldnt afford the upgrades i wouldnt have kept it more than a month, i would have just hated it

It'll always be less money if you wait if you always wait for the price to drop chances are that you'll not get in to one!!

yes i looked at a spec c from litchfields,,, ok they go well but still look like A STANDARD STI To ME, so i would still would have spent money on one.

And i just wanted a 2.5 ltr motor,, and now its quick 360 bhp and 415lbs

415 lb/ft of torque!
Is that a misprint? Do you mean 415Nm? If not, what's been done to it to get this figure

Suspension soft..you got to be joking..my 06 STI is like riding on skateboard..rock hard and is bloody uncomfortable on any road...seats are the same as the previous STI

Funnily enough i have to agree that the standard set up on MY06 STi is ok for motorway but no good for back roads. Put 4k of goodies on mine too - prodrive springs/PPP/Quickshift/18" PFF7s. Must say i am pleased with the results.
But i feel the car as standard really needs PPP & springs as a minimum for UK roads.

I think the seats changed in the MY06 UK/Euro STi to the previous WRX style as the 06 model has side airbags.

And on topic....

I originally disliked the 06, but i've seen a few on the road now. I think the front end suits the STi with the bigger rear wing. In WRX guise i think it lOOks odd.

The MY06 Sti can be specified with or without side airbags Type UK included.

I have been into the dealer twice now about the seats and keep being told that the uk spec cars only come with side Air Bags and there are no options avaliable on which seats are fitted.

Sorry but the 2006 STi brochure says you can specify with or without, maybe it is incorrectly printed.

Default sti

Hi
had mine a week now 18" p-ff7,s prodrive spring kit ,and i chose pzero nero,s for their all round performance, far better than the original RE70,s(IMHO) no tram lining and far quieter ride..geometry set up to prodrive settings still quite light on the steering but the turn in is far sharper, wet weather is awesome grip ,took a bit of getting used to compared to the classics i have had and apart from the higher driving position i think i,m starting to prefer the new car now..loving it
