One question: it is near to impossible in for example Washington to enter a tube, train, museum or whatever building without your rucksack being searched. I'm not saying that's a joy, but did security tighten in London at all after 7/7 ?

Most of London's income is in the financial sectors.
To say that the a reduction in london tourism will fubar the economy and bring the country to its knees is at best extremely naive and at worse sensationalist.

There seems to be a trend developing here amongst a certain element of ScoobyNet membership, to suggest that it is anything other than a cause for alarm.

Duncan Walker : Shepherds Bush : 1441 BST
The normally busy Uxbridge Road has been closed down and all the shops shut.
Hundreds of people have been pushed back away from the station. Among them is Arline Dowling of Shepherds Bush, who said: "I'm just really worried that they are telling us all to get back down the road and my daughter is in school, inside the cordon. This doesn't make me feel good at all."
