Retract Gaseous Oxygen Vent Arm, or "beanie cap"
(T-2 minutes, 55 seconds)
Crew members close and lock their visors
(T-2 minutes, 0 seconds)
Orbiter transfers from ground to internal power
(T-50 seconds)
Ground Launch Sequencer is go for auto sequence start (T-31 seconds)
Activate launch pad sound suppression system
(T-16 seconds)
Activate main engine hydrogen burnoff system
(T-10 seconds)
Main engine start (T-6.6 seconds)

awesome just awesome, I had a good feed but then was watching it for 30mins before launch so got in early! The figures are just mind numbing after about 3 1/2 minutes its dumped half its fuel load is doing about 5500 mph and 60 miles up just incredible.

Yup same here, been watching (in the background) for a couple of hours and it screwed up about a minute to go.

Had to switch to the low quality (but working) BBC stream with about 10 seconds to go - phew!

At least the launch went smoothly.

I'd been watching the live stream all morning and it gave up just before the launch so I watched it on News 24 instead. Excellent stuff! I loved the view from the fuel tank as it separated from Discovery. You can track it here, well, I'm assuming you will be able to once they update the site

Why did they announce "we're grounding all shuttles" while one was still in orbit? Nice of them to think of the astronaut's stress levels on re-entry

Could have waited until it was down surely?!?

I saw that they do have a supply of tiles and cement etc for repair on board the Shuttle as well as a special arm they can use for that particular job.

Just hope the damage is not too serious.
