My car history is:-
1.6 Golf (18-19)
Golf GTI 16V (19-22)
UK Scooby (22-present)
Most I ever payed was £1200 (I changed the 'max £1000 a year rule' to 'max £100 a month rule' ) - and my mates/work colleagues thought I was mad. Glad I did it gradually as I've now got 8yrs NCD and my insurance is £950, still a lot IMHO. Had I been forking out £3000+ I would never have managed to get on the property ladder and I'd still be living with my parents when I'd gone 30!
Each to their own I suppose.

I think the only way of getting a stupidly low quote these days is by insuring something with zero power in it.... like a Fred Flintstone car perhaps?

Asda quoted me the cheapest 1558 fully comp on value of 4k for a my92 import, 2 years ncb no points or anything parked on drive with cat 1 alarm//imob thats it. Dont even ask for confirmation on the ncb, wish I had lied and told them 5 yrs!
