I think those 8000+ posts probably have something to do with your deteriorating eyesight

Indeed. Mine are Hoya, although Carl Zeiss ones are very good too.

Comes to us all Big Sinky.

When I was in a VC10 over the Indian Ocean one night I could not read the small print on the charts.

My crew took me off to a spectacle place in Hong Kong for an eye test and a pair of reading glasses. Cost a total of $22 HK wich was about £2 !

The shop had stickers proclaiming that he had supplied nearly all the world's airline pilots

The glasses still work ok for me now

£290 isn't a bad price. I pay more than that for mine by the time you go for thin light weight lenses, anti-scratch etc etc.

Me too. I figure that as I'm wearing them every day, and tend to keep them for >3 years, I may as well go for some expensive ones that I really like, rather than some cheap ones that I don't like that much. Current pair cost £420 a couple of months ago, but if I keep them three years that's only £12 a month.

Somewhere, i got the notion that if you were short-sighted that you became less so 'later' in life.

No, everyone becomes long-sighted as they get older. You'd think this was great if you were already short-sighted, because it gets better. But actually you just end up not being able to see anything and needing bifocals.

did you have blind tattoed on your forhead, or did they see you comming??

sorry guys and girls... no one has to pay such stupid money for frames and lenses...

what is evident is that you want to pay vast amounts for designer stuff and non essential coatings on lenses...

you want anti glare, anti scratch, anti dust spring back frames double hinges
super wafflly snork busting eartips with go faster stripes....

you want your bumps feeling...

i can remember getting a pair of glasses with "glass" remember that lenses..

no scratch no anti glare etc.. half the price ..... and almost bloody indestructable

i had a pair of framless plastic rectolight lenses... the fell of my head and shattered.. 1 week old.... the optician who i shouldnt have gone to !!

M
just said tough... so they can get ANS P dr stvx off!!!

all these companys are coining it in on your vanity..
